No More Bundles and Contracts!

I just saw this from a few months ago. Does this mean all customers will be pushed onto the new pricing when their old contract ends? Sounds awesome! The picture in the article oddly still mentions the 100 and 300 plans instead of 200 and 400. https://www.theverge.com/2020/1/9/21058202/verizon-cable-bundles-fios-contracts-transparent-pricing-internet-phone-bill-fees

Verizon/AOL POP email SEND no longer works (???)

$

Is anyone here using POP email on their PC and having problems SENDING email via their Verizon email accounts? Starting tonight (just worked a few days ago) I can only receive email but cannot send. In the past couple years the times something like this has happened is because there was some kind server issue at AOL that they had to fix (eventually) OR their POP mail settings changed but there was no announcement discussing that that I knew of. Each time I have been able to get help up here in a thread which now has been locked for inactivity called "Verizon Email Transition to AOL's Servers" (so I am trying to ask here in a new thread). The settings I have been using with no problems for the last couple years (thx to this forum) are: Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.aol.com port 995 SSL OUTGOING mail server (SMTP): smtp.aol.com port 465 SSL I found this AOL page now googling around which says to use these settings below https://help.aol.com/articles/verizon-move-to-aol-mail-updating-your-third-party-email-program-or-mobile-device-with-your-new-account-information-pop3 That page says to use: Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.verizon.net port 995 SSL OUTGOING mail server (SMTP): smtp.verizon.net port 465 SSL But trying that it does the same thing as my setting above. Receiving works but send does not. Also I think, but my memory is hazy, that info is OLD and was changed a few years ago to what I am using now, which I was only able to find out about thx to help on this forum in the old thread I mentioned above. Have the settings been changed again, or is this some kind of glitch at AOL email? Anyone else having this problem? Thanks for any helpful info.

Will Verizon installer put inside RJ45 wall plate/jack?

Hi all, I'm currently on the 100/100 plan with coax. If I go to a higher speed, will the Verizon installer wire the ethernet from the ONT the a wall plate inside the house or will it be an unsightly cable coming out of a hole in the wall ?

Router Question

I want to switch from Triple Play to Mix & Match. I am using the MI424WR router and was told I had to upgrade to new router for 100mps. I have coax to router currently, do I need to have Ethernet for new rental router? It looks like 200mps is same price for service does this require Ethernet to the router? Price quoted was $75 with autopay and router rental. Is there a low priced router I could buy to save the $15 rental?

Prepaid Visa Offers - Does Anyone Actually Receive These

$

Gigabit Installed 3/21, was supposed to be able to claim $150 Prepaid Visa after 65 days. On 5/25 got e-mail that offer was ready to redeem. Link led to my online account, tiles for offer still said that offer would be ready on 5/25 (in a future tense). Contacted Twitter support, told this was a "glitch" and that email was sent 1 week early (even though 65 days was actually *before* 5/25.) Next day, all signs of offer are now GONE from the account both on the webpage and in the MyFiOS app. I'm seeing endless posts of the same in Verizon's "official" forums, that are all quickly locked and dismissed with "you will be contacted directly by an agent." Same was done to me, and in DM they tried to blame my computer and needing to clear cookies/cache/browser/etc (even though I've tried on 4 computers, numerous browsers, incognito/private mode, and the app itself). They will not answer me as to if they still see the offer on my account. Glad I've documented the before/after on the app and website to better log the offer FRAUD.

Switching to Internet Only

I'm thinking of cutting the cord and going to Internet only. Currently I have 75M triple play with a Tellabs indoor ONT. So I just order new service under my wife at 200M for $40 and cancel the old service, right? No special promos at the moment? Will my current ONT still be good for this new service? Could I request it be replaced? Would that be an extra charge? Are they even doing any indoor work now?

Possible Solutions to Eudora & Verizon, AOL, Yahoo Mail Issues

The attached PDF (“HermesEudora.PDF”) details with step-by-step instructions how to use the Hermes Mail project files–updates Eudora 7.1.0.9’s TLS version which will allow users to successfully send and retrieve mail when using Verizon, AOL and Yahoo email accounts. Background: When Verizon acquired AOL, all Verizon customer email accounts were shifted to AOL’s email servers so that in addition to handling aol.com email accounts and compuserve.com email accounts, verizon.net email accounts were added to the mix. Since then Verizon has also acquired Yahoo adding yahoo.com email accounts. In/around late March/early April 2020, users began reporting difficulties sending mail and then not being able to retrieve mail when using Eudora (and also Outlook and Outlook Express). Because mail could not be retrieved or sent, users had no access to Eudora’s Connection Information Manager which provides access to the “Eudora SSL Connection Information Manager” and the “Certificate Information Manager” allowing the user to update certificates–for mail retrieval highlight the appropriate Eudora Personality, right-click, choose Properties > Incoming Mail tab > click on the “Last SSL info” button. A dslreports.com user reported in Verizon FiOS forum posting doing a search on “Eudora TLSv1.2” and found a reference to the “Hermes” project. A bit further research led to sourceforge.net’s Hermes Mail project (see: https://sourceforge.net/projects/hermesmail/ ) updates Eudora’s TLS version to TLSv1.2 (from TLSv1.1). Possible Fixes: There are 2 approaches to using the Hermes Mail project to update Eudora 7.1.0.9’s TLS version: I. Use hermssl.zip which I used successfully on my Win7/Pro desktop system–hermssl.zip contains selected files that when copied to the Eudora software installation folder may update Eudora’s TLS to version 1.2. II. Use hermsetup.exe which I used successfully on my Win7/Pro laptop when the hermssl.zip approach did not work on the laptop–hermsetup.exe contains Eudora 7.1.0.9 software with TLS version 1.2 in a single installable package that can also be used (after installing the Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable) for any system(s) that do not currently have Eudora installed. New Construction

I just moved into a 4 unit condo recently built. My neighbors to my left, right and across the street all have FIOS. I went online to Verizon and it said FIOS is not available in my area. I had a ticket open, but they just said the same thing, not available in my area. I’ve been trying for a 3 months now. Is there any way I could get an engineer out here to run a line and get past the automated system telling me no?

VZ new non-support hours

[rant] My incoming sessions kept flapping up and down yesterday. I'd lose the DHCP assignment, etc. 5-10 minutes later it would come back up for a few minutes. So I played the musical chairs game with (800) 837-4966. Then repeated hawking about it being so much faster to get helped on line; exactly HOW do I do that during an outage??? Enter your account number. Listen to the BS about a big storm coming, when of course ONT's no longer have backup power. Then Miss Robot tells you about tests. She comes back and says yes, there is a problem. I get transferred to the queue. 10+ minutes later a human answered; but one-way audio so she hung up. Do Not Pass Go. Start over, same BS. Get transferred to queue. This time, I get told "Call back some other time, we are closed" and hangs up. THIS WAS DURING THEIR ANNOUNCED HOURS. It's stopped raining here and things are stable. But tomorrow? [/rant] When I was up, I quickly filed with Direct, but no response 14 hours later.

Hi, I believe I saw a thread on here where Fios technicians were able to switch my ONT to Ethernet (from Moca) without having to call in to Fios customer support. Could someone point me to that thread or let me know if this is possible?

[Router] Synology NAS and G3100

Hi, I seem to have some port forwarding configuration issues with my Synology NAS (DS218+) and the G3100. When I run router configuration in Synology, it says not all ports are setup, and directs me to turn on UPNP on my router. I did that and ran the setup again and it still is saying it is not correctly setup. I went in the port forwarding page on my router and it is showing several ports set up for the NAS. I am not sure if the router is not letting some of the ports be set up, or if the NAS is mistakenly saying the router is not set up correctly. Is anyone else using a Synology NAS with the G3100, and are you having any configuration issues? Note that internally on my network I am not having any issues. Thanks!

Verizon G3100 - switching ISP's

Hey everyone, My fiancee and I are moving into our very first house together. Unfortunately, we will have to get rid of our Verizon service and will have to change ISP's to Optimum, at no fault of Verizon's. When we signed up for Verizon plan, we purchased the new G3100 router. It performs amazingly well. Will I be able to use this as a router for another ISP? I know there would most likely be some configurations that are made...but has anyone done this or know if it's possible? Thank you!

NJ--Latest List Of Central Office Copper Retirements

$

I didn't see this posted anywhere else, so if it is, moderators, please kindly lock this thread and I will have my wrist available for slapping later. Verizon posted (back in April) a gigantic list (78 to be exact) of upcoming COs who are going to have their copper footprint retired. This most likely means that if you are in a non-FiOS served geography within any of these CO's footprint, you're getting fiber within the next 12-18 months. As per the document: said by Verizon :Verizon has deployed or plans to deploy its fiber-to-the-premises network in these areas and intends to provide services over a fiber network infrastructure. Updating our network from copper to fiber benefits our customers because of fiber’s resiliency and reliability, especially in inclement weather. Fiber also provides our customers with expanded capabilities to grow with current bandwidth demands for their home or business. For my neighbors in Edison, it's about time you get it! https://www.verizon.com/about/sites/default/files/2019-04-03-Verizon-NJ-Copper-Retirement-Notice-and-Exhibit-A-2019-01-B-NJ.pdf

[Networking] G3100 Ethernet to Linksys switch drops connections, but without OK

$

Hi, I’m trying to diagnose a problem where the FiOS G3100 router randomly drops all the Ethernet connections out of my Linksys 16-port gigabit Ethernet switch (SE3016). The strange thing is that a direct connection from the G3100 to any of my Ethernet devices works great. However, if I put the Linksys switch in the path, my Ethernet connections randomly drop. My WiFi connections are rock solid, and never disconnect. I’m on my 3rd Linksys switch and my 2nd G3100, but the results are the same. I’ve even tried changing out the Ethernet cables, but no luck. My ONT is right next to the G3100, so I can easily replace the ONT Ethernet cable, but that too makes no difference. I went so far as to swap out my G3100 with my old G1100, but the Ethernet connection still drops. So I don’t think its a problem with the G1100/G3100, the Linksys switch, nor the wiring. I have a gigabit internet connection, along with FiOS TV and digital voice. I want to use the Ethernet connection to stream HD movies from my server (WiFi speeds are too slow). At this point, I don’t know what to do/try next. Maybe I need a managed switch? Update to my ONT? Any ideas from the folks here would be greatly appreciated!
