Switch from existing to new user for new user deals

I want to switch my mom's account to me, so I can get the new Triple Play deal. I want to keep everything from the account, but change to my new name and the new cheaper deal. Do I and her just need to call Verizon? Will they ask what kind of new deal I want, or is there something I have to do?

Will Verizon release a fix for the new WiFi vulnerability?

According to https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/oct/16/wpa2-wifi-security-vulnerable-hacking-us-government-warns the vulnerability affects a large number of WiFi enabled routers, and makes things worse if you're not using an encrypted connection. Anyone know if Verizon will release any updates for MI424WR I, or the G1100?

FiOS Gigabit Connection

Hey everyone! I've been waiting to post this for a while now... It's my pleasure to introduce Instant Internet by FiOS FiOS Gigabit Connection. This is the name for the new 750/750 tier. ONTs will actually be provisioned for 1024/1024 aka Gigabit, but due to limitations with GPON and Ethernet, expect closer to 940/940. UPDATE 4/23: ONTs are still provisioned for 1024/1024, and Verizon now brands it as gigabit internet. Nothing has changed about the tier except the name. Rollout: As always, dates subject to change. Listed below are general areas, there may be some parts in the listed areas that have/do not have gigabit that are listed otherwise. Jan 14: New York, Northern New Jersey, Philadelphia, Richmond, & Hampton Roads Jan 25: Boston and Norfolk Apr 27: Instant Internet becomes Gigabit Connection for New Customers Apr 30: Instant Internet becomes Gigabit Connections for Existing Customers and expands to Providence, Washington DC, Montgomery & Howard Counties 2017: Rollout Continues to Baltimore County, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Southern New Jersey, Boston & Philadelphia Suburbs, & More Pricing: In areas without Gigabit Connection: 50/50 Base 100/100 +$10 from 50/50 150/150 +$10 from 100/100 300/300 +$100 from 150/150 500/500 +$100 from 300/300 In areas with Gigabit Connection (eventually everyone): 50/50 Base 100/100 +$10 from 50/50 150/150 +$10 from 100/100 300/300 +$30 from 150/150 1024/1024 +$50 from 300/300 As you can see, this is a huge price reduction. 300/300 and 1024/1024 are now more affordable, instead of being ridiculously high. Please note that if you're an existing customer, your existing bundle discounts may cause a different price to show up. That's normal, as some of your discounts may be specific to the speed you have currently. This post will be updated with new information as I get it.

Fresh Start Offer

I'm nearing the end of my current 2-year agreement on my Triple Play service (75Mbps, Prime HD, one phone.) When I checked MyVerizon today, it presented a "Fresh Start Offer" that looked interesting at first, but isn't as good as it looks. For me, the big change is the loss of "DVR Free for Life" discount. Those without the discount might find this interesting. Highlights: o) Two offers for me, one continuing my current 75MBps and one with Gigabit. Base cost is $114.99 and $134.99 with agreement incentives (no taxes, fees, equipment). Totals below. o) TV switched from the old "Prime" to "Preferred." Some channels I don't care about lost. o) $150 gift card offered. Good for VZ Wireless products and accessories only. o) Upgrade to Gigabit costs $150 ($50/mo for three months) o) Two years of Spanish Channel or Sports Pass for free. o) My current "DVR Free for Life" discount is removed. o) Regional Sports Network Fee and FiOS TV Broadcast Fees go up a lot (now $6.39 and $3.49). I suspect this will happen with any new agreement. Total including all discounts with taxes and fees: 75MBps: $164.64 Gigabit: $193.64 Both with one M-DVR and one STB. In short, it looked like a good deal until I dug into it. Others may find it more interesting depending on their current discounts. I'll be calling retentions soon. Maybe they can do better. Good Luck.

MOCA networking question

I just got reconnected to fios after leaving them for a year. First hook up was through coaxial and now it is ethernet. The house is not wired for ethernet so the router was mounted in my shed and using moca adapters to get it through out the house. I would rather use my Netgear for the primary router instead of an access point. Can I use Actiontec's bonded 2.0 adapter and take the ethernet from the ont and put it into the adapter to get my ethernet connection upstairs and use my Netgear router eliminating the G1100? I don not need guide or VOD information. I checked the FAQ but it says moca wan bridge and there are no management settings in the Actiontec adapter. I am hoping that all I need to do is get the ethernet information piped to my router.

[Networking] Using my own router and a Actiontec's bonded 2.0 adaptor

I just tried using my own router in place of the Verizon one with a Actiontec's bonded 2.0 adaptor for the guide data. It did not work at all with my Apple Airport extreme. Right now I have the Airport Extreme getting its ip from the Verizon router thats also giving me the MOCA network for the set top boxes. I want to remove it and use the adaptor with my own router. I hooked the ethernet from the ONT to the Apple router. Rebooted the Apple router and ONT. I connected the coax from the ONT to the Actiontec's bonded 2.0 adaptor and ran an ethernet cable to my Apple Router. I got no ip or TV signal. Did I run this incorrectly?

Mesh Network (Eero) on Fios

I am fairly new to Fios having used cable for the past 15 years. I am looking into a mesh network such as Eero, Google, etc and would like to get rid of my gateway modem/router. Is there a recommended router only to buy? I have an Arris router I purchased for cable, but understand that won't work. I would like to purchase the router only to avoid the monthly charge and also not over pay for the router capabilities since I am buying that with the Eero. Anyone have a similar setup?

[Networking] Do I need to reset the Quantum gateway for a new install?

$

Disconnected old service last Sunday. Ordered a new self-install using my wife's name after numerous calls ending up nowhere close to what I was paying (retention attempts). First of all, do I need to reset my quantum gateway (my own router) for the new install, or simply go to activatemyfios.verzion.net. All the necessary connection/cabling is intact, and I suppose the "self-install" is just the activation. The other question is, when I placed the order, it only let me choose install date a week from the ordering date. Now when I logged in, in "my verizon" account order status, it said " complete install BY 10/24" , does it mean that I can just go and activate it now or it will remain dead until 10/24? Thanks a lot.

Can I connect a phone line to the ONT directly? [pic included]

I noticed this yesterday when the tech was upgrading the ONT. I have verizon phone too. I need just one phone line to connect to a phone inside the house right on the other side of the ONT pictured. Sorry for the dumb question but I'd prefer if I could do this myself. :)

Gigabit - better wifi with Linkys router than G1100 - recommend

I bought a Linksys EA7500 AC1900 https://www.amazon.com/Linksys-AC1900-Wireless-Router-EA7500/dp/B019WAQMVY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1508432906&sr=8-1&keywords=linksys+ea7500 which is actually a little cheaper than what is charged for the quantum gateway and the wifi speed test results I'm getting are better on a gigabit connection. I ran these tests many times using all different channels in the 5GHz band and decided to record them down below for just one of those runs on both speedtest.verizon.com, speedtest.net, and fast.com (just included the verizon and speedtest.net results below). The Linksys was consistently better. One odd thing I did notice doing these tests a whole bunch of times was that the Verizon router fairly frequently would report faster upload than download. No idea why. Range is also not a factor for me as I live in a one bedroom apartment. I recognize that you're not really going to notice a difference between 100 and 400 when using the Internet, but I really don't see any advantage to having this Quantum router except that they'll replace it for free if it breaks. [Pricing] FIOS and Phone Bundles?

I'm interested in getting FIOS 50/50, but I also still need a landline for certain reasons. However, there are no FIOS+voice only bundles that I can see anywhere on the Verizon site. Attempting to assemble a package of that type results in a 74.99/mo. fee (which would go up after a year), which just seems a bit absurd given the FIOS+TV prices. Is there something that I'm missing? Additionally, it seems that when I entered my landline phone number to check that it could be transferable, it claimed that it was not. Being a Verizon customer already, how is this correct?

FiOS WiFi Network

I'm trying to watch TV using the FiOS Mobile App, but it says that I am not on my home WiFi network even though I am. Is this because I have my router setup as the primary and the FiOS one setup as secondary?

Problem with my PC? FiOS Gigabit Connection slow download

$

Getting ethernet download speeds on my PC around 300-500, but uploads well over 900. Router shows 940/1200. Spent a half hour with a tech trying to determine the problem, and why I can't get over that speed. Using a mac plugged in, I get almost 800. The PC that I own is a ASUS G751JY 17-Inch Gaming Laptop [2014 model] Link: http://a.co/7NMB73O with Windows 10 installed. Using the standard Quantum Gateway router. Scanned for viruses. Nothing. Anyone have ideas how to improve my speed, or is this what I should expect?

AOL Mail: Update your Verizon.net email security settings

I received an email from AOL Member Services with the subject "AOL Mail: Update your Verizon.net email security settings". My Verizon.net email has been working but I wanted to update what I have since they asked me to. The POP3 works; I can receive email. I use "Postbox". Sending does not work; Postbox says the connection to smtp.verizon.net was lost. My outgoing server is set as follows. Server: smtp.verizon.net Port: 587 Connection security: SSL/TLS Authentication: Encrypted password User Name: myaccout@verizon.net That is the best I can think of based on what is shown in: How do I set up other email applications to send and receive my Verizon.net mail? https://help.aol.com/articles/how-do-i-set-up-other-email-applications-to-send-and-receive-my-verizon-net-mail?ncid=mbr_comdefeml00000002 I tried setting the Connection security to "STARTTLS" but that did not work. I tried using port 465 but it says that that does not support encrypted passwords so the Verizon instructions seem wrong. Does anyone know what works? I have not tried calling Verizon but I will if no one here knows.

Verizon Orange Flag 07850

Hi I see there are FIOS flags on the busy streets in Landing, NJ- I know that the sounding towns have FIOS, is it possible that it is coming? Additionally, what about the side streets? I have been looking online to see if there are any comments or announcement, but can't find anything. Or am I just being too hopeful for someone else to compete with Cablevision?
