I posted this eon's ago and with this recent moca thread, figured I would repost once more to see what POV has changed. I dunno what the MOCA spec ...currently have FIOS 2.0 moca splitter in use.
When I went from DTV to Fios, and used 1 spot with MOCA, it worked fine as well with the cables that were on my DTV MOCA splitter.
I can't remember the timeline of things but I kinda wanna say DTV was using moca for 2 years or so before FIOS was using MOCA in their mix. My timeline of this may be way off..

Old Plan to Mix and Match + AutoPay - $10 discount?
I will be switching a family member from an old dated plan to mix and match + AutoPay. They do not have AutoPay+Paperless billing set up with a checking account yet. Obviously the AutoPay discount isn't reflected if you're changing plans until the AutoPay kicks in.
My Question is, are current subscribers eligible for the AutoPay discount once everything is set up correctly? If so, when is the discount normally reflected?
I had switched over a family member over a month ago. It had asked to set up the AutoPay + Paperless billing in the last step. But I haven't seen it reflected in the bill yet. Maybe it takes a couple of months?

Enrolling as new user to get lower price
                         Hello everyone!
Respect to the elders on the forum.
I have using Fios for a year, and now that the year is up, they are bumping up prices, 39.99 to 54.99. I use the 200/200 in the central jersey.
I recall reading on the forum before that cancelling your account and rejoining as a new user can net you new account price benefits. I use my own router and the Fios ONT is inside my room. I plan to cancel the account, wait a few hours and enroll again with new details. The address and router remaining the same. Few others had done it before, but in the Covid crisis, they already moved before I could get help.
They did mention dslreports in their quest.
Can anyone please guide m toe do this?
Thanks

[Networking] Equipment Changout / Maybe Eliminate G3100
I've been in a stupid stimulus check fueled network upgrade, that's left me somewhat confused as it comes to my new Ubiquiti hardware and the old Verizon equipment. I've got a G3100, one of the non FiOS One set-top boxes, and a cablecard. Ideally I would lose the G3100 altogether. I'm very confused, having read heavily on it, about my specific interplay of equipment and what my effective options are. I need to maintain guide on the box, but outside that VoD and caller ID are less than essential. DVR is a nice feature that I've virtually never used, so it can be lost if need be.
Going through the long list of potential setups none seemed to address new gateway and ONT old set-top box. Honestly given when some were updated I'm not sure about how things even play with the new gateway at all, let alone new or old set-top box. I do have a whole bin full of extra routers, including at least one old Verizon gateway (could this be used as a MOCA bridge?), so I could use a 3 router config.
Currently I have the G3100 gateway in bridge mode connected to a Unifi Dream Machine Pro. I've been having frequent network drops that are fixed by rebooting the UDMP (they may also be solved by pulling the UDMP WAN and replacing it). Today a tech came out and replaced my old beige ONT with a new black one (I'm sorry I don't have the model numbers on either). He also hooked up ethernet to the G3100 (from the ONT) on top of the coax it was connected to. My hope had been that this would fix my connection issue, it didn't. I don't want to jinx anything, but I've tried cutting out the G3100, and that appears to have solved my issue.
Should I be swapping the old cable box for a FiOS One box? Do I get/lose anything from that? What am I looking at if I do want to get rid of the 15 monthly G3100? I'm really hoping you guys can straighten me out since I'm floundering a bit.

[Networking] Actual Speeds with Verizon FiOS during Peak/Off-Peak/Overnight
                         Hi all,
I just spoke with an expert IT friend who told me he has a 1 Gig plan with Verizon FiOS who does not always get the maximum 940/880 download/upload speed wired to switch wired to ONT.
I'm on Optimum 1 Gig plan and I tend to get 300-600 during the day and 700-910 during the night. Its on 24 D3.0 and 1 28MHz OFDM channel and 4 upstream D3.0 => Node provides 914+276 = 1138 Mbps downstream and 108 Mbps upstream (takes overhead into account).
At my University, thanks to its amazing fiber infrastructure, I always got 800+/700+ speeds on Speedtest, even better with sustained usage. By 2022, campuswide capacity will expand to 1.5 terabit/sec.

                   [Router] Flakey G3100
We are on our third G3100 router. The first one was dropping connections. The second was ok but when I got back to the Verizon direct forum about why we were being charged for the 1100 router rather than pay for the G3100 they sent another router which has been really unstable with multiple episodes of dropped connections. I am told a fourth one will be sent. The tech yesterday reset the ONT remotely that had "error messages' on it. Does any of this make any sense. We have had Fios forever and had very stable, reliable service bu the G3100 routers have been anything but stable or reliable.

Fios 4 Way MOCA Splitter on OOL
OOL Service with Extreme 4 in 1 splitter. One of the legs was feeding directly into Moca Adapter, then the out to the Modem.
I know this is a Fios Subforum but there are some gurus here who may have a bit of knowledge on the Fios Moca Splitter
On 2 other legs downstream on the room side, I also had Moca Adapters. Basically to give me a -wired- network for my Wireless Access Points. Everything was working FINE with the OOL Extreme Splitter except I did observe that the WAPS on the MOCA did take a bit longer for me to see them all on the (lan) when I put the Fios Splitter on. Also with the Fios Splitte, on one STB (probaby a bad port), I had pixelated video
I replaced it with a MOCA rated splitter (Fios). Same 4 in 1. Same 7db loss on all ports.
I replaced it with the Fios Splitter with OOL service, as I wanted to put a -moca rated- splitter in the loop/
4 In 1 Extreme Splitter
Leg One - TV
Leg 2 - Coax going into Home Office/ Moca Adapter/WAP
Leg 3 - Coax feeding LR. Right off the Living Room Port , it goes into the Moca Adapter. On the Out on the Moca Adapter, Feeding STB
Leg 4 - Coax going into Moca Adapter. On the out, it feeds the Cable Modem.
This moca adapter has the LAN cable that feeds the - moca network.
Does anyone know on the ports on the Fios Splitter (antronix), does it do anything different ? Maybe I had 1 Bad Port on the FIOS, as the video on one STB was pixelated.
For now, I swapped back to the Extreme Splitter, which does seem to -work- with my setup. Internet speeds across both WAPS tied into the MOCA with the -non rated moca- seem fine. It just takes a bit to register them all (if I reboot and how fast they come up on the network).

Hoping that the MAC address filter feature is coming back soon, have been without it for over a year now.
I use it to allow only certain specific devices to connect my home network (in conjunction with WPA2 AES and strong passwords of course).

Somewhere I saw mention of a tiny fiber VZ was now using for inside ONT installations.
Assuming it is true, does anyone know what it's called/who makes it/source?

What do I need to know to replace a MI424WR router with a G1100?
I own the MI424WR and would probably buy a G1100 on ebay. I'm looking to get better wifi throughput. What do I need to know to replace the old one? I'm guessing it's more than moving the wires over and plugging it in. I have 50/50 internet if it matters.

New smartphone won't connect to my G1100 router
A few days ago, I finally got a smartphone, a Motorola Moto G Power. It won't connect to my G1100 router. It does connect to my son's FiOS router at his home (& will connect to random open wireless networks the phone detects). My other wireless devices do connect to my G1100. The error I get is "Network not in range." I'm sitting 2' from my router. Any suggestions or thoughts?

Verizon/AOL POP email SEND no longer works (???)
Is anyone here using POP email on their PC and having problems SENDING email via their Verizon email accounts?
Starting tonight (just worked a few days ago) I can only receive email but cannot send.
In the past couple years the times something like this has happened is because there was some kind server issue at AOL that they had to fix (eventually) OR their POP mail settings changed but there was no announcement discussing that that I knew of. Each time I have been able to get help up here in a thread which now has been locked for inactivity called "Verizon Email Transition to AOL's Servers" (so I am trying to ask here in a new thread).
The settings I have been using with no problems for the last couple years (thx to this forum) are:
Incoming mail server (POP3):
pop.aol.com
port 995
SSL
OUTGOING mail server (SMTP):
smtp.aol.com
port 465
SSL
I found this AOL page now googling around which says to use these settings below
https://help.aol.com/articles/verizon-move-to-aol-mail-updating-your-third-party-email-program-or-mobile-device-with-your-new-account-information-pop3
That page says to use:
Incoming mail server (POP3):
pop.verizon.net
port 995
SSL
OUTGOING mail server (SMTP):
smtp.verizon.net
port 465
SSL
But trying that it does the same thing as my setting above. Receiving works but send does not. Also I think, but my memory is hazy, that info is OLD and was changed a few years ago to what I am using now, which I was only able to find out about thx to help on this forum in the old thread I mentioned above.
Have the settings been changed again, or is this some kind of glitch at AOL email? Anyone else having this problem?
Thanks for any helpful info.

I usually use my Asus router, but decided to plug in the stock G3100 to see if it helps with range at all (turns out it didn't), but noticed that there were 2 additional hidden networks in the 5ghz range.
What are they? I didn't see a way to turn them off. Guest network is disabled. They both went away when I moved back to my original router. I'm aware of the Roku one, of course. Thanks.

WNY Copper Retirement Notice and question
I see Verizon has posted a notice of Copper Retirement dated September 9, 2019 for most of the remaining wire centers in Western NY.
Implementation Date: On or after September 16, 2020
Planned Network Change(s) will occur at all remaining locations in the following wire centers in
New York
Description of the planned network change(s):
Verizon intends to retire the copper facilities at all remaining locations in the one hundred eleven
(111) wire centers listed above. Verizon has deployed or plans to deploy its fiber-to-the-premises
network in these areas and intends to provide services over a fiber network infrastructure. Updating
our network from copper to fiber benefits our customers because of fiber’s resiliency and reliability,
especially in inclement weather. Fiber also provides our customers with expanded capabilities to
grow with current bandwidth demands for their home or business.
Description of reasonably foreseeable impact(s) of the planned change(s):
After the retirement of the copper facilities, Verizon will: (1) no longer offer services over copper
facilities; and (2) cease maintaining the copper facilities. To help ensure an orderly transition,
Verizon may require customers and interconnecting entities to migrate services off of copper
facilities well before the copper retirement implementation date.
I am trying to understand what that means. In some of the previous Copper Retirement notices it listed specific addresses that would be converted over to fiber-to-the-premises. This one lists "all remaining locations in the wire center."
Does that mean the rest of the customers being served out of that wire center will be converted over to F-T-T-P?
I am asking because my father has DSL and copper phone out of one of the wire centers with copper being retired.
In asking Verizon through Verizon Direct, they have been vague by saying if he received a communication from Verizon then he will be converted over to FIOS or if fiber is going to be offered at his location then eventually it will be converted.
I am sure that the entire footprint of the wire center will not necessarily receive F-T-T-P, but I would assume the current Verizon customers that have copper services coming out of those offices will be converted over to fiber.
That is how I am understanding it. Does anyone know if that is correct?
In other words, if someone has copper services coming out of one of the wire centers that is retiring copper, does Verizon have to convert you over to fiber?
They can't just cancel the service and shut it off without offering something else, can they?

The three dots keep flashing, but nothing happens. I tried clearing cache, different browsers, computer, phones, and nothing. Spoke to someone at Verizon through chat function, and they told me that their devs were working to fix the issue. This was two months ago, but I'm still seeing same thing.
Any way to fix it?

Getting the Procedure Right for Migrating from 100 to 200
I had Fios installed in my house back in 2014. Back then, they installed a I-211-M-K ONT in my meter room and ran a coax cable up to my router (Actiontec MI424WR Rev I) on the first floor.
Fast forward to today and I'm on 100/100 service for $39.99 with 5 months of discounts remaining before the price increases. The standard speeds in NYC now are 200/200 for $39.99 under the Mix & Match deal. Since it seems like anyone can move to the Mix & Match pricing, I figure this is the time to upgrade. However, I need to deal with my coax limitation first before I can move on. I've been reading a bunch of threads so far but just wanted to try and get the procedure down here before I go about this. Based on what I read, this seems like the steps to follow to properly self-switch my coax to Ethernet without pulling new cable:
1) Buy a pair of Actiontec Bonded MoCA 2.0 Ethernet to Coax Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013J7O3X0/?coliid=ICGDW5H8D6Z09
2) Post in Verizon Direct to request a switch from coax to Ethernet
3) Upon switch, change wiring to: ONT - Ethernet - Adapter - Coax run to 1st floor - Adapter - Ethernet - Asus Router
3a) Get rid of old Actiontec router
4) Log onto Verizon and switch to the Mix & Match 200/200 internet only plan for $39.99
5) Enjoy double the speed for the same price
Alternatively, if I don't choose to switch to Ethernet, it seems like Verizon will try to charge me $149 for a technician visit. I know tech visits aren't really desirable during pandemic times but would a technician replace my coax run from the ONT to the first floor router with an Ethernet line? Or would they try to half-ass it by trying to force me to relocate the router to the basement and not bother replacing the coax cable run? Mind you the coax line was originally installed by Verizon in 2014 and only goes in/out of two exterior walls to go from the basement to first floor.
I also noticed Actiontec has a newer MoCA 2.5 Ethernet to Coax adapter out now. Would there be any benefit of installing this or just overkill for my purpose? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013J7O3X0/?coliid=ICGDW5H8D6Z09&colid=3KJE6154FEMAY&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1

Switching to Mix & Match - Quick Service Upgrade / No Tech Visit
I'm in the process of switching my parents over to Mix and Match. I noticed for 200 mbps requires a tech visit (have new ONT outside but Internet is over Coax). But I found this little gem (or maybe not?) Verizon offered (picture attached).
Everyone has their own opinions, and I would have to be stupid to choose stay with 75mbps for the same price rather than 200mbps. But in this case, I don't know what would happen if a Tech came to their house. The ONT is outside. They would either need to move ONT into the room the router is in, or run a network cable to that room. Also with Covid and having elderly in the house...
Now here's the kicker/question: If I choose to keep 75mbps, would I have to *pay* for a service visit later to actually upgrade to 200. Right now choosing 200 does not require an additional payment.
Is there anyone on here that's changed to Mix and Match and kept their speeds? If you log into Verizon mix and match upgrades and choose 200mbps, does it require a charge for a tech visit?
Part of me says to just go 200 MBPS with a tech visit and see what happens

[Pricing] Any advantage to moving to VZ cell service?
I have gig internet at $75/month... I have two phones currently with cricket for $70/month total (unlimited text/voice, 5GB data which we never go over). Is there any sort of promo bundle with VZ that would get me anywhere near this bargain-basement cricket pricing? I'm generally happy with Cricket (ATT) - coverage is fine, wifi calling sounds excellent, I regularly stream audio in the car w/o issues, BUT if I could get tethering and more reliable MMS that might be worth a small premium...

                   [ONT] ONT replacement
I currently have a fairly old ONT (612?) on the exterior of my home, but a tech is coming out at the end of the month to upgrade it as part of my switch to 200Mbps with Mix & Match. Any idea what I can expect? Will the same enclosure be used, will they replace it, or will they install something inside instead? The fiber terminates outside now, obviously. ;) And should I be asking nicely for a specific model? ;)
The BBU is long gone BTW. Right now there is just the ONT's AC adapter (plugged into a UPS) inside. And I have been on Ethernet from the start, with my own router using a MoCA adapter, but I am dropping TV as part of this upgrade, so the MoCA is going away.
Pictures follow...and thanks for any info you can offer.
