Having problems with website pages loading

I have Verizon FIOS Gigabit service. I am using the Quantum router. The last couple of days I have had problems going to different sites where the pages wouldn't load. My speed is fine. Have no problem with slow ping or buffer bloat. I tried rebooting the router. Contacted Verizon and the tech had me remove the ethernet connection and connect it directly into my iMac. The problem was solved and now all my devices load the pages properly or so I thought. I once again connected the ethernet directly into the router. Everything was working fine for a few hours and it started to happen again. Not on every site but several that I had no issues with before. It's my understanding that once you disconnect the ethernet connection from the router it reassigns the IP address and license. Any ideas as to what is causing this. I haven't seen any DOS issues that pop up from time to time. I live in South Jersey.

Old plan with Prime. Agent is offerering me equipment upgrade to one boxes Waived upgrade charge While my Lifetime MultiDVR credit drops, there is a credit of $15 Multi DVR that has no expiration date (which means it may never drop, or it can drop 1 week from now, 1 month from now, 1 year from now, etc) After streaming the SB (knowing it was upconverted), it's gotten me to re-consider changing my legacy plan to this. My monthly goe up about $4 with the new mini/mini one.

Quantum/One - Fios Router - Privacy, etc - Advanced Networking 101

So I changed made a plan change on my account today. While speaking with CS, as always, they know you're top watched tv channels, how much data I have used - currently am just using all MY OWN network equipment right off the ONT. Anyhow, I know to get the new STB's up and running, I need the Verizon router in place when these STB's boot up. Then I can look at the rules applied on the Verizon router, then mimic the rules on port forwarding on my own equipment and then REMOVE and replace the VZ Gateway to my own..... However, in practice, sounds like it might be a PIA should the internet, power or whatever blip and my own equipment is in the mix.....and I'm not home to reconfigure everything by putting the VZ router in the front, etc. Be curious how you guys do it. Double nat yourself behind the VZ ? Or you don't care and you're just right off VZ's equipment...

[Networking] verizon speed test disconnects ethernet

I ran the Verizon speed test to measure speed from their network to our ONT. It stalled out at 99% and then disconnected the internet connection. I did this on the desktop with a wired ethernet connection but had the same experience when running the test on the Fios app on my iphone. I remember doing this in the past. We have a G3100 router if that makes a difference. Anyone else seeing this?

No Connection To Certain Sites - ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED errors

I am writing this post as there seems to be a recent spat of DNS or routing issues for Verizon FIOS customers on the East Coast. Below I will write out everything I have discovered and tried thus far in hopes that other users seeing the same issue can get some guidance. The tl;dr is this: Starting Friday morning 1/31/2020 I started having issues resolving the IPs are various websites and services, but only a few at a time, while all other connections operate normally. Web browsers throwing common DNS error ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED. On Friday morning 1/31/2020 upon starting my day, I went to YouTube to take in some content with my morning coffee and noticed something odd: YouTube thumbnails weren't loading, but otherwise the site was totally operational. I checked and noticed that the caching site for the Thumbnails was returning good old DNS error ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED in Chrome. I figured this was an issue with YouTube as I had no other issues with my connection. A short time later I got the same DNS error when just attempting to navigate to Google.com and I knew something was up. I did the normal personal troubleshooting step of restarting my router, and that fixed the issue temporarily. About 15-20 minutes later the issue returned to YouTube, and then to Google, on and off while other sites were totally functional. At this point I knew I had a bigger issue at hand. Each time I checked to ensure that this issue was replicated on other browsers, computers, and mobile devices and I got the same behavior. Sites were totally accessible on mobile data. I verified that my main PC was using Cloudflare's DNS and it was, and I checked to make sure that Cloudflare's DNS wasn't experiencing issues, which it wasn't. I attempted to utilize Cloudflare and Google DNS (for both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic) on my local machine and at the router with the same results. Intermittently sites that were working fine one moment, would throw ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED and similar issues after a reload or changing the page. Other examples over the last few days: Twitch wouldn't serve video while the rest of the site was fine, no connection to Bing, Google, Verizon and forums.verizon, LinkedIn, and many others. Usually a handful of sites I wanted to visit would throw the error while the others are working just fine. I checked the verizon forums and noticed that a few users were reporting suspiciously similar behavior at the same exact time. Router restarts fix the issue temporarily, as does releasing/renewing DHCP via router, usually for only about 5-15 mins before another site will give the DNS error. I've contacted Verizon support chat and the hotline, and they had me do the steps I already completed, but I obliged and followed through each time. They've performed DHCP releases, router resets, and reset the ONT to no avail. Each time the support rep would converse with the infamous 'network technician' who reports that they see no issues with the network. Now they're saying the only option is to replace my router and/or have a tech visit the house. Due to the timing of many others up and down the east coast that I have found with the exact same issue just in the last few days, I have a very hard time believing this is simply an issue with my router, my ONT, the fiber to my door, or the local hub. I cannot manage to get escalated beyond the Indian call center and speak to a network tech that might actually be able to pinpoint this with me, and I'm now at a loss. Funnily enough, using a VPN seems to avoid this issue, but that is not an acceptable solution. Now my STBs aren't receiving an internet connection via MoCA so the channel guide isn't showing any information beyond "No Program Name", no icon or channel names, and a message "No program information available. Please reboot this STB and/or your FIOS router and retry after a few minutes". MoCA connection speeds seems normal. If anyone has any ideas they'd be greatly appreciated. I have a hard time believing that users on the Verizon forums, Reddit, and this forum are all suddenly facing the same problem over the last few day, and it's all our local networks. ______ -> Random sites will not resolve IP addresses - DNS Issues - Browser throwing ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED -> Router reset, DHCP release/renew, router restore, ONT reset only fixes the issue temporarily, about 5-15 minutes -> Utilizing 3rd party DNS at the router and on a device doesn't resolve the problem -> VPN use seems to avoid the problem (more testing needed). -> My Router has gotten 2 new IP addresses since this began and the issue continues

[Router] Issues with the G3100, but not with the G1100

I am sharing issues I have found with the G3100. Issue: A Hurricane Electric 6in4 tunnel on an Asus router functions with a G1100 router in the environment, but it fails with the G3100. I do know that Verizon FiOS does not support IPv6 in most locations natively via the G1100 and the G3100 routers. The configuration exists on an ASUS router which is inside the home network. Via the configuration on the ASUS router I am tunneling IPv6 traffic within IPv4 packets. This configuration functions correctly with the G1100 in the environment, but it fails to function when I replace the G1100 with the G3100. I can demonstrate that with the G1100 in place with the factory default configuration the data flows properly. If I swap in the G3100 the data flow stops. I do account for the possibility that the external IP address changes. I verify with Hurricane Electric that the configuration contains the proper IP address. My best guess is that the G3100 does not properly process Protocol 41 traffic. During the reset process on the G3100 one IPv6 ICMP packet did traverse the G3100. I did receive one reply. I had a steady ping to www.google.com 2607:f8b0:4006:812::2004. Also this event has been observed during a reboot of the G3100. From Hurricane Electric: https://ipv6.he.net/certification/faq.php If you are using a NAT (Network Address Translation) appliance, please make sure it allows and forwards IP protocol 41. What is IP Protocol 41? IP Protocol 41 is one of the Internet Protocol numbers. Within the IPv4 header, the IPv4 Protocol field is set to 41 to indicate an encapsulated IPv6 packet. >>>> It appears the G3100 does not function properly with protocol 41. Issue: The VMS1100 functions properly with the G1100 via a direct ethernet connection, but with the G3100 the VMS1100 services that depend on IP do not function. It should be noted that I reboot the equipment. The VMS1100 fails to load its full configuration during the restart process with the G3100, but it processes correctly with the G1100. The VMS1100 does obtain an internal IP address from the G3100. In addition the non-IP "TV" services are being provided by the coaxial connection from the ONT to the VMS1100. With both of these issues my expectation is that the G3100 should function at least as well as the G1100. I of course realize when new equipment is deployed there exists a period of time during which issues are discovered and remediated. I also am cognizant Verizon is deploying equipment that caters primarily to Joe and Mary and X consumers, not IT professionals. I posted the issues within the Verizon Direct forum. As noted above I am publicly sharing this information.

NJ--Latest List Of Central Office Copper Retirements

I didn't see this posted anywhere else, so if it is, moderators, please kindly lock this thread and I will have my wrist available for slapping later. Verizon posted (back in April) a gigantic list (78 to be exact) of upcoming COs who are going to have their copper footprint retired. This most likely means that if you are in a non-FiOS served geography within any of these CO's footprint, you're getting fiber within the next 12-18 months. As per the document: said by Verizon :Verizon has deployed or plans to deploy its fiber-to-the-premises network in these areas and intends to provide services over a fiber network infrastructure. Updating our network from copper to fiber benefits our customers because of fiber’s resiliency and reliability, especially in inclement weather. Fiber also provides our customers with expanded capabilities to grow with current bandwidth demands for their home or business. For my neighbors in Edison, it's about time you get it! https://www.verizon.com/about/sites/default/files/2019-04-03-Verizon-NJ-Copper-Retirement-Notice-and-Exhibit-A-2019-01-B-NJ.pdf

Was told my discount was extended for another year, but it wasn't.

I'm a internet + landline customer with a 50/50 upgraded to 100/100 plan. My two year agreement was coming to an end, so I decided to contact Verizon to see if I could get it extended. The tech told me that it was already extended on its own, as indicated on the website under my account, even though there was an orange banner saying that my agreement was gonna run out soon. I was reassured that I have nothing to worry about, and was even offered a $10 discount if I switched to paperless billing with auto pay. A month later I receive the new bill, and it's back to my original price (~$80 > ~$70 > ~$80). Was the tech bs'ing me to get me to subscribe to the paperless billing with autopay? There's a mention of "$10 Extended Savings Offer thru Nov 30, 2020" in the receipt email, aside from the "-$10 autopay"...

Fios One with MoCa adapter

I just got my fios one equipment and decided remove my GS1100 router all together (have my own network gear). I had a Moca adaptor laying around (Actiontec ECB2200V) and decided to hook it up. Everything seems to work fine so far such as On-demand, guide and updates. The only thing I can't seem to get is the remote DVR functionality. I'm guessing that I need the GS1100 for that? Is there any other way around that?

[Networking] IPv6 working!

I noticed that my Quantum router got an upgrade recently, and now allows IPv6. I was (finally!!) able to get it to work. I logged into the router administration and turned on IPv6. At this time, I have to set the DNS on my Mac to Google's or CloudFlare's DNS servers to make everything work, since I think Verizon's default DNS servers for FiOS aren't completely ready yet. But when I log onto my router (at 192.168.1.1), it shows public IP addresses of BOTH IPv4 and IPv6 now. I pass all the tests at ipv6-test.com and test.ipv6.com except having a reverse DNS name. I can reach ipv6 only sites. Finally, no Hurricane Electric tunnel needed. When I have a chance, I'll check to ensure this doesn't mess up Netflix or HBO NOW.

HI I have a g1100 modem router from Verizon fios. Just being curious. I have several usb memory units. Some are 64 mb. I would like to plug one or two if possible into the usb ports of the modem and use them for external storage. I just back up some financial records and a few pictures and the 64 mb is enough. Can I use the usb units as a external nas with the modem to store the data? Yes,,, It has been a few years since I have done any pc/internet/networking stuff and I need a lot of info and hand holding. Thanks

HORRAY! 2/19 Install. Router Question.

Okay, so after years of waiting and watching the orange cable go in and waiting lots more, I'm the first one in my neighborhood to sign up for FiOS (had it for year in my old neighborhood). Got a great price for More TV and Gig internet ($156 a month all in with discounts which is $1 a month more than our Comcast bill which was about to go up $26 in a month or so). Anyway, I'm now wondering about the router. I have a Netgear P7000 that I like that runs DDWRT, but this setup comes free with their non-ActionTec router (which I think is a good thing). Is this router decent or is it junk like the ActionTec was? Am I better off with my Netgear and is that even an option or is it still like it was the last time I was a customer and the router also provides On Demand and Guide data, etc?

G3100 has only 2 ports Lan1 and Lan 2 WHAT GIVES?

Turned in Vz G1100 and saw a g3100 being returned to VZ. It had a LAN1 and LAN2 EN jack but no other EN ports. What gives? Is this a router or just a thick fat WIFI extender? My G1100 has WIFI and 4 EN ports as well as the port to go to the ONT. What is this large thick device capable of and what are the LAN1 and LAN2 EN jacks for?

Anyone else ever had their IP Address flagged for CAPTCHA?

For about 24 hours, many web sites were giving me a CAPTCHA request with some saying that the reason was that my IP Address was flagged for something. I went into the router settings, obtained a new IP Address, and everything went back to normal. This is the first time I've seen this.

G3100 and Moca 2.5

Hi Everyone. I have a MOCA 2.5 question and hopefully you can help clarify. I had the previous Gen Verizon router setup with two Moca adapters on 2nd floor of my home to extend Ethernet connection. The Actiontec Bonded 2.0 adapters. Yesterday I upgraded to the new 3100 router and installed it. I hear this has Moca 2.5. Should I update my bonded Moca adapters to 2.5? What improvements will I see if I do so? Thanks for your input

Ordered 200/200 plan today and the system generates a notice that I will get "equipment" on Thursday. I have the new ONT (Nokia one i think), using my own router and left everything connected. I was hoping to be able to do a self install immediately. Anyone know what the time gap is for?

New fios one install with ubiquiti gear.

I have new fios one boxes on the way and bought a cheap g3100 to initiate the initial handshake. I was then going to ditch that and go back to my ubiquiti gear only along with an actiontec moca device. This has been my current setup for 18 months or so and has worked pretty well. But i have noticed only the DVR boxes will update software the media clients have never updated since removing the fios router. So to my questions/ideas: 1. I have the ubiquiti USG Pro 4 which has 2 LAN ports. 2. I assume I can add the g3100 to the second port add a second LAN subset of 192.168.2.1? 3. Use the moca actiontec device to "inject" the moca signals in to the wan port of the G3100 4. I would temporarily remove the LAN port for my current network then install the new boxes 5. I assume they would provision on the G3100, phone home normally and get activated 6. I would assign them static IP's for the G3100 7. With this setup they should have full access to the internet for DVR, ON demand, caller ID etc.. right? 8. I then plug the LAN 1 connection back to my USG pro4 - everything else should run off LAN with the normal subset 192.168.1.1? Is my thinking and rationale OK? Not an expert just a hobbyist Thanks.

[Router] Third party router.

Since I can’t seem to find a definitive answer, I figured I’d try here..... I’m considering switching from cable to FiOS (internet and 2 or 3 boxes) and I have a Unifi router set up in the house. I had FiOS before about two years ago but did not use my own router at the time. Is there a guide somewhere on using a third party router with FiOS? I’ve seen quite a few things online about this but a lot of them seem to be contradictory. Can the ONT be configured to allow the Ethernet port to go directly to my router? Or can I simply put the Quantum gateway in bridge mode? Or is it more complicated? Thanks.
