For those of you that have internet & local TV bundle and are NOT under a 2 year contract the price went up from $12.99 to $25.00 per month. Just called Verizon and dropped the TV part. Keeping my 75/75 internet only, with a new 2 year contract for $59.99 plus tax per month. $40.00 less than if I had kept the TV bundle.

I'm currently on the 100/100 Internet only plan. On the site, it shows 200/200 as the lowest tier. Do existing customers get the speed bump?

Verizon FIOS - Third Party Router - LAN Subnet

Question I am hoping someone can answer and that I ask it right... Reading this - http://www.dslreports.com/faq/15993 Mentions at one point to set your Actiontek / Quantum router to 192.168.1.2 with your Primary Router being 192.168.1.1 and plugging the LAN port of the Verizon router into a LAN port on the Primary Router... My New Third Party Router has 2 LAN Ports on it. 1 of the Ports will be connected to a switch (and another switch) with 4 VLANs configured in a Router on a Stick setup....this is where my house network / domain come from. For the second LAN port, can I setup any subnet on it I want (ex - 192.168.2.1 /24) and give the Verizon Router a 192.168.2.2 IP Address? Then as long as NAT is working for that LAN2 port, things should be fine for the STBs / DVR / etc correct? There is no need for the Verizon Router to be on the same subnet as one of the house VLANs is there?

Old 2 hop problem or has it always been this way?

G1100 Moca Issues

I am Tivo user who relies on Moca currently to provide IP service my Roamio and Mini's. Friday when I was going to bed I went to watch TV on one of the Mini's in my bedroom, noticed it was no longer connected to the Moca Network, I thought that was odd and fired off a DHCP request again after what seemed like a longer time than it should be it got a IP, but then when attempting to stream channels to the mini it was skippy and blocky. Turned the TV off and just went to bed was problem for another day. Fast forward to today, I noticed my Roamio was know longer getting a IP, tried DHCP again and no such luck it didn't get a IP. Tried rebooting nothing, tried disabling/reenabling MOCA, nothing. LiveTV still works so its definitely not my coax cabling from what I can tell. So I checked my router and on the LAN side it shows COAX disconnected, rebooted the router, still shows disconnected. Tried swapping the cable run to my wall port and rebooting again and nothing. When I look in the status page it still shows disconnected, has anyone ever seen the COAX on a G1100 die? I strongly suspect that is what is happening here. This is a "customer owned" unit that I purchased from VZ when I signed up when I moved to my current place last summer so it is not even a year old, has one ever had problems getting them replaced via tech support or Fios store?

Has Vz disabled TTL propagation?

I'm noticing some weirdness with tracerts done recently. The only hops are my router, and the destination. This is occurring on multiple computers, multiple operating systems (Windows and Linux). Same issue with the Verizon router and third-party router. If I plug a laptop directly into the ONT, tracert only shows the destination hop. I'm thinking Verizon has disabled TTL propagation. I checked at a friend's house with fios, and I'm not seeing the same at his place, but he's not close enough that we'd be on the same circuit. Has anybody else seen anything similar? [Router] Purchased own Fios router but now speeds are slower

My friend dropped Verizon Fios TV and now only has Verizon Fios internet. In doing so, he bought his own router, a MI424WR from ebay. He previously had an older looking model - I'm not sure specifically which one. The internet works, but he claims slower download speeds, feels like half, etc. When I go to check for issues, are there any obvious things to look for besides speed tests? When switching over to his new router, are there any things that should have been performed, such as an ONT reboot, DHCP release, etc.? He didn't do either of these things, and speeds seemed fine while connected to ethernet, which makes me think MI424WR wireless limitations. Is the MI424WR perhaps the issue, and he should have gotten a G1100? I realize using the MIR424WR as the "modem" and something else as the wireless router is an option.

No access to easement

I moved into an apartment in Philadelphia over a month ago and immediately set up an account to get FIOS connected here, i waited a week for the Tech to get here just to find out that there was a padlock on the alleyway between these 4 houses, blocking access to the Verizon crew to be able to set up my new Internet. We knocked on a bunch of doors, nobody answered, and they told me they would have to reschedule. It's now been over a month, I've since discovered that the houses next to me are both vacant and owned by someone doing renovations on them and this is who put a padlock on the gate... and the people behind us just never answer their doors. I'm frustrated because I have not had Internet or cable for over a month... arent they able to cut the lock on the gate or something?  I have contacted my landlord as well and she let me know that she's pretty much in the same situation as me... she doesn't have access to the padlock that this man put on the gate. What should I do?

For those who use their own router, which one do you use?

When(not if) I come back to Verizon Fios(for internet only), I think I would like to use my own router and thus, not have to pay router rental fees to Verizon. Which one do you use? Also, I have one of the older BPON ONT. Will they automatically change it to a GPON ONT with an ethernet connection if I order the 100/100 service?

decided on the gig speed connection; coax or ethernet?

Ok. In another thread hear, I griped about the fact that Verizon doesn't honor an existing tv package under a current triple play contract when moving. I gave optimum a try with my cable card and it has been a disaster. The Internet with Optimum isn't bad at 200/35 but Optimum really pushes Altice One and they offer little Cable Card support with Tivos and some channels need the tuning adapter (i've read that Optimum pushed more channels with the SDV to make room for their own gig speed with Docsis 3.1.) Also, I have for Tivos and have one problem with one connection and now Optimum wants to send a tech out and charge me $80.00. Nevertheless, I'm going to cancel Optimum and bit the bullet and move my services over to my new house with Fios. I'll lose my premium channels but to keep my costs down, it is worth it for me at this point. Here are my questions, I use my own router and have been doing so for the last 5 years. At my old house, I was able to easily connect the ONT via Ethernet. I had 150/150. I will now be getting the gig speeds from Fios. They are supposed to be coming out this Saturday and they will need to install the ONT, etc as the house I moved to never had Fios (there is no existing ONT). My question is, does Verizon hook up the ONT with coax with gig speeds? They would have to do some minor "fishing" to connect the router to ONT with ethernet. Can you get gig speeds with Coax? I'd prefer ethernet because I want to eliminate the actiontec router completely from my setup.

Renew Contract Before Expiration?

My contract expires in June. My online contract renewal offers don't seem very good. Is it worth going off contract and hope for better offer? I have triple play. 50/50 internet and Custom TV including two packs for $96.99 plus rental of DVR, set top box and taxes for a total of$138.24. I get $20 discount with no expiration and free actiontec modem rental.

Run extension cord to ONT?

I have a new ONT FIOS install. There is not enough room in the finished area for a UPS. Can I run a 50’ extension cord to the ONT without ground problems? I seem to recall that ONT needs to be with 10’ of house ground...

[ONT] Worth bothering with UPS for ONT, when only service is phone?

We have "copper retirement" in our area, and just got a small GPON ONT installed yesterday (inside). No battery backup. Unfortunately, the area it is in is VERY cramped, so I can't fit the larger UPS I have on-hand. A few questions: o For just voice, is worth worrying about a UPS? I don't mind getting dropped if the "lights flicker", but don't want to damage the ONT. Power in our area is "pretty good". o While I don't have the model handy, it is a new, small GPON ONT. Should it do OK with cheap APC square-wave UPS units? o Any idea what a reasonable wattage draw might be? I found an APC unit that has a lithium battery, and is small enough, but it is only rated at 50W. Again, I'm voice only. For now, I get internet/TV via Comcast (I like the simplicity of Comcast re: my own modem/router, and the Comcast TV line-up). While the ONT is in a cramped area because of where it was mounted, it is inside in an area with the breaker-box on a concrete wall, so heat should not be a problem.

Google Play Services For Android App Updates

I have been updating my Android apps using the Quantum Gateway G1100 router WiFi for years with no problems. I noticed today that my apps were no longer updating. My Android devices can detect an app update is available, but when I press the Update button, the update download begins, but the download never completes. None of my Android devices will update through the QG router. I can download the updates via my mobile service (LTE/4G), but not via WiFi. I can download updates via a hotspot connection. I have no clue why something that worked this afternoon stopped working properly 3-4 hours later. Any ideas would be helpful. TIA

How to cash in Rewards when you only have internet

Last email notice I received mentioned only the ending dates for earning new points (march) and cashing in (May 31) I learned today that a few weeks ago they removed (w/o warning) all the gift cards-- cannot reload even existing ones. Only way to cash in now is via On Demand purchase or Premium Channel purchase. Useless for internet only subs. Anyone tackle this thievery?

CableCard / Tivo Installation

$

Appreciate any help here. I've recently signed up for FIOS and waiting for the install. I plan to use Tivo instead of the VZ STB. Unfortunately there is no way to place an order without at least one STB and no way to order a CableCard online prior to install. I chatted with the sales team who told me to place the order and then chat or call back in to have it manually fixed. Unfortunately, now that the order has been placed, the previously helpful sales agents now can't help me, and I have to go through the overseas call/chat centers that do general support. After a couple of unsuccessful chats and a very long phone call with a lot of "would you mind patiently waiting while I put you on hold" breaks, I'm about ready to just cancel and stick with my current provider. I've heard everything from "if you don't have at least one VZ STB, you can't get HD channels" to "if we remove the STB, you will lose your bundle pricing." The closest thing I've gotten to helpful advice is "just accept the box when the installer comes and then return it at the closest Verizon store. When you go to return it, you can pick up a CableCard." There's got to be a better way. Anyone have ideas?
