I just cancelled my internet and have tv only. I am sending back my quantum dvr due to fear of the fbi planting data on my tablets/phones or wrongfully incriminating me for some bullshit crime. The question I have is how do I get the dvr to work without internet? My wife tried to use it and it didn't work. Anyway to get my dvr capabilities back? Thanks for the help.

I was on Verizon's site looking to upgrade my internet from 75mbps to 150. The problem is it only gives me the option for 300 and 500mbps. Anyone know why? Thanks

Strange Quantum Gateway 5 GHz Band Behavior
I am using the Quantum Gateway router. I am getting some strange behavior when trying to connecting to it with a Surface Pro 4 using the 5 GHz (either mixed N/AC or AC mode, fixed channel 40) band. Routing to the Surface seems to fail regularly as evidenced by web sites "page not found" that is immediately rectified by a page refresh in the browse -- so I don't think this is DNS. Transfer rates and speed tests are also intermittently good and very bad within the same test (fast, then stop, then resumed).
Using two WiFi analyzer apps, I see two 5 GHz/AC networks: one has the SSID I set (which is different than the 2.4 GHz band) and one that is hidden. The interesting thing is that the BSSID for the non-hidden network is C8:A7:XX:XX:XX:XX:68 and the BSSID for the hidden network is CA:A7:XX:XX:XX:XX:69 -- not the similarity. Changing channel on the non-hidden network changes it on the hidden network. The C8 BSSID is Verizon Business but the CA has none listed and a search for it on the web produces no registration.
I do not get this behavior using the 2.4 GHz N band. Web browsing is very fast and speed tests normal.
From the behavior it looks to me like the Quantum router is broadcasting two BSSIDs (one shown, one hidden) for the SSID I have set in it, and this is causing the routing to get messed up.
Can anyone offer some information to help me understand what may really be going on and what I can do to fix it? Thanks.

Porting phone number
Looks like after years i will be cutting the cord. I want to port my home phone to a mobile carrier in preparation for my move to GV. I was just wondering I still have 3 months of my discounts. So I am wondering if I do port my number out will Verizon put a new number in to keep my bundle in tact ?

Are they any better than Verizon? Glad I have been moving to non Verizon Email accounts. This will probably seal the move for me.

Resetting a Rev. E router question...
It's possible I may need to reset my sister's router because she's lost the password--she's looking to see if she can find the paperwork that might have the info. The router is MI424WR-Gen2, Version E.
In my own notes for my router--same type--I have the following info for the orginal settings:
Full Name: Administrator
User Name: admin
Password: password1 (I think it's all lowercase)
Can anyone confirm that when we do the reset that the above values are the default and, if "password1" is lowercase.
If the info above is not correct, can someone tell me what the default values should be or where to go look them up?
Also, if we have to do the reset, will her SSID change?
Thanks much!

Quantum Gateway Router
I just called Verizon and ordered myself a new Quantum Gateway Router (G1100). The normal price is $99, but the sales person said it is on sale for $25 off so I'm paying $74.99. I will own the router, no monthly charge. I'll update when the actual router arrives - should be later in the week. The last equipment I ordered from Verizon actually came the next day so I'm excited.

Verizon 1 Gig service
It seems like every major ISP(Cable/Telecom) has introduced/plan on introducing at least 1 gig service. Not a word from Verizon as to its plans on 1 gig or higher service.
What gives?

[Networking] Whole-home ethernet using pre-existing coax cabling and FiOS GW
I recently bought a newly-renovated house with coax cabling throughout, all of which is home run back to the ONT in the basement. The previous owners were TV people; we are not (we are an OTT household). It is a 4-story home with tall ceilings, and 2-ft thick stone walls (exterior mostly, but some inside walls as well).
You can perhaps already tell where I'm going with this.
The gateway (a Quantum G1100) is currently on the second floor. For the sake of discussion, let's presume my goal is to have hard-wired IP devices (e.g., Rokus) feeding HD content from a NAS unit or the web to TVs on all 4 floors of the house. That will require at least one Ethernet port per floor.
I *think* the answer is:
3rd floor: MoCA adapter (hard connection point)
2nd floor: Gateway (wireless coverage for top two floors)
1st floor: MoCA adapter (hard connection point)
Basement: Network Extender (wireless coverage for bottom two floors)
I'm considering the ECB3500T01 MoCA adapter, but am wondering if that's necessary (it's ~$220). Given the description above, do these adapters need to be on both ends of a coax cable run? Or is it only necessary to place in any coax outlet given the gateway will be propagating the MoCA signal throughout the house?
Can someone confirm I'm thinking about this the right way, and whether I'm overlooking a simpler/better alternative to achieve my goal?

[ONT] Replace Battery
Our red battery light came on and also when accessing VOD Verizon told me to replace the battery. So instead we unplugged the battery from the ont, replugged and for a few days it's been green. However the message from Verizon still comes up when accessing VOD. My question, we have a warranty on the battery so we could get it replaced if it's really going out. If the red light is off BUT the message keeps coming up, does that mean the battery is weak and needs replacing, or not?

Just got FIOS - have a couple questions.
I just got FIOS Triple play In stalled in my house yesterday after having years of DSL. Pretty happy. I got the 100/100 speed. Coax is running from my G1100 Router to both of the STB's, ethernet cable runs to my entertainment area (amazon box, receiver, etc.) and also to my home office where it connects to a TEG-S80g Switch (gigabit). The reason I'm using a switch here is because I cannot get my Asus AC2400 to connect. I want my TV set top boxes to respond as they should, but I want my Internet services to still utilize my ASUS router. I have a few devices that use WIFI but I'm really more interested in having my cabled connections work as they should.
I'm getting correct speeds (100d/~115u) and have only had a few hiccups with my internet disconnecting while gaming (one specific game and Mumble). Should I leave the switch in place and sell the ASUS router or is there an easy way to get it working like it was? Is there a guide somewhere?

G-1100 QOS
Where can I find and adjust QOS in the G-1100 for a wired (Ethernet) connection. I see it for wireless, but not for wired.
I am trying to adjust to improve the buffer bloat grade (C) that I get on DSL fiber speed test.
Please let me know.
Thanks and a peaceful holiday season to all.

[Networking] Printer on both primary and guest networks with Quantum Gateway?
I have just updated to the Quantum router, primarily to isolate my daughter and her friends from the main network. However, the problem with this is that our shared printer is on an Ethernet connection to the router, and she can't see the printer from the guest network. Is there anyway to allow the printer to be shared across both networks?

Just renewed in North Jersey
My contract was up in Feb '16. I currently have 35/35 internet plus Ultimate TV (with all of the movie channels) for $139.
I've been checking the promotional pricing that Verizon was offering by logging in to my account periodically. Today when I logged in I was offered a package that included 75/75 internet, ultimate TV, the new router, and a $10 discount off HBO/Starz for 12 months. Price for the first 12 months on this package was $154. Second year the price went up to $164.
I was confused, because I thought that Ultimate TV includes all of the movie channels. So I started an online chat with a customer service person.
She told me that Ultimate TV does not include HBO/Starz. Then she offered me the same package (75/75 internet, ultimate tv including all of the movie channels, new router) for $144.
Price is good for 2 years. Seems like a good deal, so I took it.

Triple Play Requirements
The fine print in the Triple Play requirements is not clear.
Must one rent a DVR in order to get the Triple Play pricing?
Also, it appears they give you many premium channels the first year, but nothing is said about whether you are required to pay for them the second year, or can you simply drop them after that first year?

Speed upgrade and they sent me a Quantum Router? Uuggg...
All I wanted to do was to upgrade my internet speed from 25/25 to 50/50 (they are telling me that is my limit on the 621 ONT), and the wheels come off the cart.
The background:
Single family house in Northern NJ. In 2007 they (Verizon) decide to put in a 621 (apartment building) ONT because we thought we may have 10+ STB's and 5+ phone lines. This never happens. We are steady with 6 STB's and 3 phone lines. Our internet service is 25/25. We've had lots of ONT Lockup problems over the years requiring that we physicall reboot the ont by removing the power wire (not unplug, but unscrew and remove and re-insert a red power wire coming from teh huge battery pack that accompanies the 621). Also, we don't use FIOS router but rather a Checkpoint UTM-1 router to allow VPN's (remote and site to site). Fios Router installed behind checkpoint to provide guide data.
Before you be hate'n over the 3rd party router, I have the exact same router running on a 612 ONT 4 houses away on 75/75 service and it works like a charm, never a problem. Actually gives 80+/80+ on speed tests. Running for 7+ years without a problem.
After an hour on the phone with Verizon they say they are going to upgrade our speed to the max (50/50). Sounds strange, on Bpon I thought 75/75 was max but we decide we will start at 50/50 and then fight from there.
The date the upgrade is supposed to kick in comes and goes and speed tests still show 25/25. Then a Quantum router shows up in the mail. Not going to use it. Don't use FIOS Equipment at my other location and get rock solid performance.
Have been fighting for an ONT upgrade and guess I have to continue fighting. We have 3 phone lines and will have a possible 4th. On Bpon that would be a 611. What i really want is a Gpon ONT so I can go to 100/100 but they keep telling me that it's "not available" in my area which I don't believe. They are looking at the current ONT and saying it's not available because of that.
Is there a number I can call to speak to someone who doesn't just read the "screen". They even sent a tech to the house and he was amazed when he saw the 621, did nothing, called a boss, did nothing then left spewing stories about other houses he's worked in. What that has to do with me I haven't a clue. Guess he was just nervous because he wasn't doing a thing for us. Kept saying "I have to have an order" to install anything.
Don't know if I'll keep my cool calling the screen kiddies again. Need to speak to someone who understands what is going on. I'm no expert by any means, but I know what I have on Bpon and my own equipment and I know what I want (GPON), and if it's truly not available then I was a Bpon router with the same experience I'm getting 4 houses away. Anything less and the struggle continues.
I got an IM from a supposed Verizon employee here on DSLR but he promptly disappeared and hasn't responded to my return IM's. Maybe because of the holiday, but who knows. I have to continue my slog to get away from the flaky 621 ONT and get to either 75/75 or 100/100. It just shouldn't be this hard.
