[Networking] Trying to determine best option and implementation

I have an Actiontec that's connected via coax because there has been FiOS TV STBs installed. But those are being replaced with new TiVos. I am setting up the network as a completely different subnet from the Actiontec. It's part of an extended VPN between homes, and I have another router that will be performing the DHCP duties and routing between the Actiontec's 192.168.1/24 network and the VPN. This network will be using the house's coax network for MoCA. ONT<--coax-->[Actiontec]<--cat5e-->[OpenVPN]<--cat5e-->[MoCA bridge]<--coax-->{MoCA bridges}<--multiple cat5e-->{other devices, access points, etc.} Of course, in that diagram the physical coax is shared between the two points. I need the Actiontec to stop providing LAN service on its MoCA connection but continue to use it for for WAN service. Or I need it to be a dumb bridge between the MoCA WAN, MoCA LAN, and Ethernet ports so the OpenVPN router can respond to DHCP and perform gateway functions. What's the best option here, and how do I implement it? The Actiontec is located in a home with fairly unsophisticated users and is also 500 miles away, so if one option is better for diagnosis and repair I'd prefer that. Thanks for any help and advice you can provide.
