[Networking] MI424WR and OpenDNS

This is bizarre.. I have used OpenDNS for some time and realized that I neglected to set it up when I got a new Actiontec MI424WR rev F modem. I follwed the instructions on the OpenDNS site but it doesn't seem to match what I see. On the "Broadband Connection (Ethernet) Properties" page (I do not have FiOS TV or a coax feed to this modem), the section "Internet protocol" drop down box shows "No IP Address" and there are no DNS options (as shown in top attachement). If I change it to "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" I see the options I'm looking for and updated the subnet mask from 0.0.0.0 - but wonder if I should have left it alone. (and made as shown in the middle attachment). I click on "Apply" until I see & click the option for "Full Status" which shows the DNS entries - but the "Status" line near the top says "Waiting for DHCP Lease" (as shown in the bottom attachment). Once the lease is obtained - it goes back to the way it was in the top attachment. OpenDNS is not used. IPConfig /all shows a DNS of my router 192.168.1.1 I called VZ Fios Support, but they wanted me to use the OpenDNS DNS on the PC LAN interface - which defeats the purpose of setting it up in the router.
