So my familys Verizon FiOS contract is coming to an end in February, and Im trying to find options in order to save some money. This is what I currently have:
Monthly Charges
11/10 - 12/9 Triple Play Bundle Includes:
FiOS Digital Voice Unlimited $30.00
FiOS TV Extreme HD (includes $12.99 for Basic service) $54.99
FiOS Internet 35/35 $35.00
24-Month Contract Discount thru Feb 4, 2014 -$5.00
11/10 - 12/9 Multi-Room DVR Package - 3 Room $33.97
Current Charges Subtotal: $148.96
I wouldnt want to make any changes to our home phone plan, however I could definitely see reducing our TV plan, since most of the time we watch shows on channels such as: CBS, NBC, FOX, and sometimes the USA Network.
Also, even though the DVR is used occasionally, greatly reducing the package that we currently have, or even eliminating our DVR service could be seen as an option as well.
In terms of our Internet plan, since we would potentially be reducing so many other services, Im considering the possibility of upgrading our Internet plan, especially with the large number of devices that are being. However, I am not sure if the router that we have right now would need upgrading, as we currently have the Verizon Actiontec MI424-WR Rev C Wireless Modem Router as pictured below:

However, if we were to upgrade our Internet plan, would there be any sense in purchasing a new router, or upgrading our current router in order to take advantage of faster internet speeds?
Are there any suggestions that you may have for a family that is trying to save money on Verizon FiOS, and reduce or eliminate services that are not being used very much?
