Hi, I want to use my older Asus router as a client within my home's Fios WiFi (handled by Actiontec). Main purpose is to use Asus' USB storage functionality (ftp, Samba) - other than that I don't care to have its WiFi on at all.
I've followed this post: https://www.dslreports.com/faq/verizonfios/3.0_Networking#12506 and set up the Asus connected LAN-to-LAN port to the Actiontec, setting its static IP to 192.168.1.2 (mask 255.255.255.0) and changing the Actiontec DHCP range to start at 192.168.1.10.
Initially, all seemed fine: i had internet on my computer connecting to the Actiontec Wifi; I could get the main admin page of both routers via their corresponding address (192.168.1.1 and .2), ftp+Samba worked fine. However, later I realized that devices that attempted to connect to the main WiFi *after* this setup was in place, did not get internet access. External website requests landed on a page obviously generated by the Asus secondary router saying the address failed.
I am confused by this - why does the Asus traps internet traffic in the setup as described above?
Any help will be highly appreciated!
