I've had Verizon Copper Phone service for the past 23 years; during that time I've had 1 outage. About 3 months ago, my building management agreed to allow FIOS to be installed. (Apparently they had a exclusive contract with Time Warner which was invalidated by the deal with Charter) The week after the FIOS installation was complete; my phone service stopped working. A Verizon tech fixed it but a week later it went out again. In the last month my service has been interrupted for 3/4 of the month. Each time, the tech comes out fixes it; service works for about a day before being disrupted again. The techs keep suggesting fiber as the solution but the limited power supply won't work for me. They also say I'd lose my lifeline service discount.
I had an outage Friday and when I called Verizon they said someone would be out on Tuesday to fix it; no tech came and the issue was marked as resolved. I called Verizon right know (cell phone) and was told that they have removed all copper wiring leading to my apartment and my service would be removed. I was told to stop calling tech support and I would be transferred to sales to start new service with FIOS.
Do I have any recourse, or way to keep my service the way it was. I have been told by building security that they witnessed the FIOS guys doing something in the area where the old Cooper wiring was. I don't want to insinuate but it's pretty convenient that the day that they finish the FIOS wiring and put up the sales postings; my and my neighbors (23 other apartments) lost phone service. I haven't spoken to all my neighbors but 2 others did say that they were told the same as me.
Any ideas?
