I've been a Cox HSI Premier customer for at least 10 years, and have had their internet service in some form since 1998. Currently I have their 100/12 internet service. No TV service. No telephone service. And no, I don't want either of those.
So Verizon, who had FIOS access within 2 blocks of me, but not where I live, for the last six years, finally set up in my neighborhood about a month ago. They even had an open house event in the community field area across the street for all of the people living here.
I went to the event. I saw great deals being cut for people wanting tv/phone/internet combined and some slightly lesser ones for just tv/internet combined. I saw NO DEALS for just internet. In fact, they didn't even have an internet plan that was comparable to what I have. Instead the customer rep was busy trying to tell me how much faster 75/75 with Verizon was versus the 100/12 I currently have. Err.. no, it's not. For 99% of what I use it for, it's not. "I bet you don't see the entire 100mb download speed." Uhh... yes, I really do.
I don't want your TV service. I don't need your phone service. I'm happy with my Sling TV and my Verizon cell phone service. I *would* consider your 75/75 service but not at the same price as or more than my 100/12. Does Verizon assume that all they have to do is show up in my neighborhood and I'll go blindly to them from Cox? As is, cable modems are pretty cheap. The gateway Verizon wants to sell me/rent me isn't (the Verizon rep was hesitant to talk about that).
If you want my business, give me a deal. If you don't, I'll keep paying for what I have with Cox. If a Verizon rep would like to chat with me, by all means...
