Hi all! First post. Hope I'm doing this right.
Having some issues in my new apartment. Living at home, my parents had the same model, but their router only had a Coax input for internet access. My own Actiontec is running from an ethernet cable for internet access, and coax for a TV that I don't yet own.
I'm trying to determine if I can switch the internet access solely to the coax, if this is something that needs to be done by a technician on-site, or if there is a way I can do this myself.
The ethernet cable runs from the box outside, through the basement, and back up into the apartment. It seems to be the only part of the box I have access to.
The reason behind this, is that the room the router is currently in has a chimney that seems to be blocking the signal. I'd like to move it into a central area for better overall signal quality, but I won't be able to keep the ethernet connection - only the coax.
It's all a bit confusing, but my father the IT guy insists that install wasn't done correctly by the FiOS tech, and that I should run solely off of coax, like his setup does.
Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!
