Wireless Baby Monitor WiFi Camera and Dropped Connections

In the last year I have purchased two different Wireless Baby Monitor IP video cameras (WiFi) and experienced dropped network connections with both of them. The length of time before the drops occur and the actual time of night of the drops don't seem to follow any type of pattern. I have tried the following: In the router settings changing the Wireless channel from (Auto) to (1) as well as (11). In the router settings changing the IP of the cameras from dynamic to static ip's that are much further away from the other devices on my network. Contacting support for both cameras. My router is the Actiontech MI424WR Rev I. It has two small antennas. I have placed a do-it-yourself parabola signal booster on the top antenna and pointed it in the direction of the cameras which both reside on the second floor of my house. The router is unfortunately placed on the first floor of my house at the farthest side. All of our other wireless devices can be used on the opposite side of the house (from the router) on the second floor without an issue so that is why I did not think the signal strength is the problem but I am running out of ideas. If anyone has a recommendation I would appreciate it. Would a larger antenna make a difference? Any recommendations? Does the camera make a difference? One of my cameras the Withings Smart Baby Monitor drops out once a night. The other camera, a Samsung SmartCam HD Pro drops out within 2 hours (but sometimes it drops faster than that). Should I change anything else in my router settings that would help with this problem? My wife and I both use our iPhone's to watch the cameras video stream and we keep the apps running all night long while we sleep. Thanks
