I'm finally able to get fios at my new house. Our town (Groton, MA) has had a Verizon franchise agreement for close to 4 years. However, my street is one of the few with underground wiring and we only have 5 houses. As a result, fios wasn't available right away and we're probably near the bottom of the list of streets to add.
The neighborhood was built in 2000 and we have the green peds around that Charter is using. Will Verizon use the existing conduit that Charter is using or will they want to lay new conduit in my front yard? The rep on the phone said they'll use the existing conduit if "there's a pull string". I watched the fios installation at my old condo where we had the same situation. They came out with snakes and first pulled string before they pulled fiber; I don't think Charter had any other providers in mind and left handy strings around for someone else to use the same conduit :). However, they were using the existing conduit used by Comcast in that town and didn't put any new conduit in the ground.
Any good guesses here if they'll put new conduit in the ground? I really only care because I have inground irrigation and no diagram of where the lines are located. Thanks!
