What Should I Do With My Existing FiOS Services?

In mid-September 2016), my original 2-year price agreement is set to expire and all discounts are going to be removed from my account. Here is what I currently pay, Do you think I can do better? I wonder if its worthwhile downgrading Extreme TV to Custom TV with Sports (based on current viewing needs ) Services and Discounts Monthly Amount New Double Play $154.99 Fios TV Extreme HD (Includes HBO and Showtime as Courtesy; still can't see how) Fios Internet 150/150 $5 Exclusive Online Ordering Credit Included thru Jan 10, 2018 Existing (Rent): HD Set-Top Box $12.00 Existing TV Equipment Package Discount -$2.00 New Verizon Connections Discount -$5.00 New Valued Customer $30 for 12 Months -$30.00 (representative claims I am getting this discount, but no where do I see it applicable on my monthly bill besides the current discounts which are broken down into fragments), extremely misleading the customer Estimated Monthly Subtotal $129.99 Taxes, Fees and Other Verizon Charges (see detail) $6.89 Regional Sports Network Fee $5.89 Fios TV Broadcast Fee $2.99 Estimated Monthly Charges $145.76 The family doesn't watch that much of content on FiOS TV (with the exception of sports, international, national, and financial news). I see a lot of decent offerings for new customers which doesn't even require you to sign for another contract (though the price is only valid for a year after which you would need to contact customer service again to make another discount possibly happen). For a current customers, the discounts available appear to be scarce. There is a $20 difference between new and current customer on current deals which is pretty significant. However, is there any way to get a discount as a current customer, close to what a new customer will be getting without having to disconnect service and enjoy inconvenience? I could care less for premium channels, but if they're being offered as a courtesy from Verizon, I'll take them. I don't want to have to do it, but if I need to go back to Time Warner Cable, I shall, because the current price I'm paying for is pretty ridiculous. The 150/150 FiOS Internet Quantum Tier is a necessity for us, however for TV content, its pretty much cord-cutting time. The only content worthwhile now on TV is News Analytics (CNN, MSNBC, CBS, Local Channels, CNBC, Bloomberg, and BBC) as well as sports (All Non-Premium) Sports Channels. Should I cancel service and move on with an alternative option or should I speak to retention's department? I by the way, don't have much faith in retention's as they go about the same screen I can see from my end. They don't seem to be flexible in-spite of me getting very close to the expiration of my current discounts. When would be the best time to call? Is it worth waiting 'till closer to the end of next month to see whats available to me or should I proceed to cancelling services now and seeking a better option with another provider? As you can probably see, I've had quite a unsteady experience with Verizon's FiOS for almost a year now. The first year was satisfactory, but later the quality of service began to deteriorate. Technicians still can't figure out the smearing picture quality on my FiOS TV service (whereas Internet and Video-on-Demand services are flawless). -- Light Travels at 299,792,458 m/s
