I've had an Actiontec router ever since I started with FiOS maybe 5 years ago. It works. I had printer & file sharing set up so my wife could use my USB printer & allowed her to access all the pictures on my computer that I've taken of the family.
Two to three weeks ago my wife called Verizon to complain about our bill (a regular occurrence). VZ supposedly upgraded us to 25/25, which I was under the impression we already had as our speeds in testing seemed to suggest that. About a week later we received a Quantum G1100 router which my wife said they never told her about. I just got around to swapping the routers yesterday.
The initial installation went w/o a hitch. So it seemed. Both computers got IPs & went online. My tablet was able to connect wirelessly to the router & I made some other adjustments to security. However, printer & file sharing were a no-go. I can ping my wife's PC from mine & I think I pinged mine from hers. She's using the Windows firewall, but I'm using Zonealarm (same exact setup as with the Actiontec with no changes). My wife went ballistic (as she usually does when it comes to her computer) so I swapped the routers again & we're now back on the Actiontec. Printer & file sharing work once again. What am I missing?
