I currently have a 2-router network; Asus RT-N66 as primary, with Actiontec C in bridge mode, per 'Primary LAN-to-WAN (option 6) configuration listed in the following FAQ:
»Verizon Online FiOS FAQ »What are the tradeoffs between the various router configurations'. I also have a third router Quantum with AC wireless, sitting in its box unused. Using my Asus works well for most activities, most of the time; but I have always had problems with UPNP/DNLA sharing media between PCs and bluray. Plus, sometimes ethernet connected printer sometimes drops connection; and I have to reboot router. Wireless N doesn't reach everywhere as house though small, has lath/plaster walls; and many walls. MediaMonkey server often has to be reinstalled in order to sync with Android, or access via DLNA. I wonder if that's because of my configuration; I've read that media sharing is difficult.
- Do you think if Quantum provided my wifi, would the AC standard would work better than the N standard of the Asus?
- If so, Is there any way to keep Asus for Download Master feature; and use Quantum router for wireless?
- I want to retain VOD and cable TV STBs which I believe require a verizon router somewhere in the configuration.
-I guess I'm wondering if I could do a better multi-router configuration since the Quantum is included in the upgraded wireless speed; and it's been several years using current configuration. I've got ethernet coming from the ONT to the Asus. The Actiontec WAN port is connected to Asus LAN; and coax from the Actiontec feeds the STBs and dVR.
- I also am unable to log in to GUI of the Actiontec as I've lost username and password. Any way to reset those, without losing its other settings configurating in bridge mode? thanks!
