So I'm a bit of an odd situation..
I am a member of a college organization who own our own townhouse off-campus (Well, a block away from campus). We've currently got a Verizon small business plan with TV, Phone, and Internet and are paying almost $450 per month which is outrageous.
Being that it's so easy to stream/download most movies and shows online now anyway, I wanted to flat out cancel all service with Verizon and just collectively pay for some streaming services (HBO, Hulu, Netflix, etc.), and simply use the school's network which already exists in the house, and is exponentially better than our current verizon speeds.
But some people still watch live sports which apparently are unavailable elsewhere so it seems completely canceling our service is out of the question.
I've already tried haggling via web chat to cancel our landline but was told that would change our bill completely, because currently we're tied into a business triple play which has to include the phone? Because of all these hidden fees, bundles, and deals I feel like it may just be easier to cancel our service and start fresh.
Which brings me to another issue.. is there any real difference between FIOS Residential and Business? We are not using any of the Business features like static IP or their phones, so to me it seems like it would just be cheaper to cancel our business account and create a residential account at the same address.
Has anyone done this before? And would I see any significant price difference versus just sitting on the phone with retentions and demanding a lower bill? I am fed up with all of this and wish I had an alternative
