I am moving from one unit to another in a 300 unit apartment building. I scheduled an installation for my Verizon Fios internet service, however due to the strike they won't get around to me for 2 weeks (or until the strike ends). I started to ask if I could do a self install as I realized the last tenant left the ONT and battery boxes in my cupboards.
When I called Verizon they said I was not eligible to self-install due to the technician needs to "provision" the ONT box.
First off, what does it mean to provision my box?
Second, how is it that they need to send a technician to my building to do anything when I already have a fiber optic cord dangling from my wall and the person who lived here 2 weeks ago was a Fios customer??
