[FiOS Phone] "Pick Your Own Area Code" Problem

As I mentioned in another thread, on 2/1, my FDV number in 212 stopped working. After a week of trying to get this resolved, I thought I'd post an update in case anyone is interested. I'd also be interested to know if anyone else has had a similar issue in similar circumstances. I'm in Texas. The FDV number is in New York. In a nutshell, I've been told that "Pick Your Own Area Code" is no longer allowed between VZ East and VZ West (CA, TX, and FL) areas, due to the transition to Frontier. This supposedly applies in both directions, i.e, someone in East cannot have an area code in West, either. Remote area codes within the regions are still permitted, e.g., I could get one in CA if I wanted to. While this sounds somewhat plausible, it seems incredible to me that existing numbers wouldn't be grandfathered in some way. It's also incredible that this would have been done to my number without any kind of warning or notification; February 1, it simply stopped working properly. Even though it's not working, the number still shows as active on my account, and I'm told I can request a number port to another VoIP carrier. I've filed a complaint with the FCC, and will be trying to contact VZ Executive Complaints. Has anyone in similar circumstances had a similar problem? Or, similar circumstances in which your number in the other VZ region continues to work? Thanks....
