This post is a solution for port forwarding issues with an XBOX1 and PS4 on the same network with Fios
most recent Actiontec MI424WR-GEN3I. So I have an XBOX1 and PS4 on the same network, for those that
don't know XBOX1 and PS4 both use port 3074 for games like Call of Duty Black Ops 3 and MineCraft but
Xbox uses port 3074 mainly for chatting and joining parties and games. Now if you're not aware the Fios
actiontec router comes enabled with UPNP. This means that devices figure out their own port forwarding
rules. The issue I was having was that the XBOX would bump my PS4 into a destination port (ex.
[PS4]192.168.1.10:3074 --> DemonwarePortMapping UDP Any -> 3075 ) thus giving me a moderate
NAT type on COD B.O.3 and the low quality games that come with that.
NOW! Solution Time! = Simply set a static IP to both consoles and disperse the IP address in far ranges.
What this means is for examply to set one console at 192.168.1.20 and the other at 192.168.1.99
This will enable the XBOX1 to forward ports through private Microsoft ports and let the PS4 travel
through port 3074 without conflict. I set some pics with highlighted buttons to press and you can follow
the below instructions to set a static IP.
INSTRUCTIONS TO SET STATIC IP:
1. Log in to your routers website ---> this one http://192.168.1.1
2. To skip all procedures click this link, its within your router and it'll take you to DHCP Connections.
http://192.168.1.1/index.cgi?active_page=9041&req_mode=0&mimic_button_field=submit_button_conn_list%3a+..&strip_page_top=0&button_value=9037
3. Find your console either by its IP or its name and click on it.
4. There will be a select box that says [ Static Lease Type] select it and apply. This will set the device to a static IP
5. Click again the console you just set up and I will bring you back to the same page with more options.
This time you will remove the last two digits of the IP address EX: 192.168.1.[10] and set it to
something higer, EX: 192.168.1.[99] -- Click apply.
6. Do the same for the other console, IP digits should be really far apart [192.168.1.20 XBOX] [192.168.1.99 PS4]
**if this happens to fail, try erasing all the active ports on the port forwarding screen and rebooting the router.
