Trying to get the straight story on FIOS speeds available to me...

So I live in Northern NJ. When we put fios in our house based on what we told them 7 years ago there was a possibility of 10+ TV Boxes and 8+ phones lines. Originally they were going to install 3 ONT's but then changed their mind and installed a huge 621 MDU ont. That's for apartment buildings. It's given us a lot of trouble. Locks up regularly on the internet side. Problem is we use a checkpoint router instead of the FIOS router for VPN so that gives them a convenient out saying "your not using our equipment". I have the same router running at other locations on 612 ONT's with no problems. They seem unconvinced. Easier to just say no. So we started exploring raising our 20/20 speeds because we move a lot of data over night and would benefit from the higher speeds. So the 621 is a Bpon ONT. When we call to inquire they tell us that we can move to 50/50 but not to 75/75 or 100/100. Now that sounds strange. I understand that 100/100 requires a Gpon ONT but have also understood that they will make an appointment to upgrade the ONT. Not us... They just say 50/50 is highest. Won't get mad, she's just reading a script but that's not what we want. Now there is a possibility that the 621 equipment might limit possible speed options to 50/50 but I should be given the option to upgrade to a 611 (8 phone line capable) and _should_ be capable of 75/75. I've got a 612 on 75/75 4 houses away. Anyway. With all of this going on all Verizon would do (specific to our lock up problem) is to send a tech. So we say fine, send a tech. He comes, he looks he says "what a big ont, never seen one of those" and then says he can't doing anything. He can't change it because there is "no order" He can only do work if there is an order. He also spoke with his "boss" and came back and said 100/100 was not available in my area because of lack of competition. Can someone shed some light on this. Maybe Office or pole equipment isn't upgraded unless they are facing competition from CATV? Although he says he's installed 100/100 nearby. Flim flam? How pervasive is 100/100+? So I'm going in circles. Going to continue to pursue this with Verizon until I get somewhere. So interested in any minutia that I might be missing in my FIOS knowledge. Bpons usually good to 75/75 Gpons good to their 100/100 or 300/300 speeds. What limits speed in a certain area? How pervasive is 100/100? See it advertised often. Possible approaches to take besides calling them a bunch of pinheads. Really don't like to be mean, but it's there way or the high way. Once had to fight for a FIOS site between two FIOS houses and they kept telling me that my town didn't have FIOS. Only after they sent it to their surveying department did they finally realize, yup it's right there one the pole, but not in the DB. Took 6 months. So verizon isn't perfect. Everything isn't always what's on the screen... Anyway. Sorry for the rant, but this sort of stuff gets my goat. Any info you can provide will be helpful. I like to have a good understanding of what I'm talking about and will be the first to admit I'm wrong, when someone tells me how it works.
