Hi everyone! I hope someone here can help me sort out what's going on in my home. My FIOS is installed with coax from the ONT. I have a MI424WR router and just purchased one of the free ones to use as a MOCA bridge.
Recently, my network speed is horrible. I ran the following test from my desktop computer, which is connected with a wireless N NIC:
The desktop is fairly far in the house from the router and regularly has a low signal strength. I bought the extra MI424WR to use as a MOCA bridge. I followed the directions here, to include the note at the bottom regarding disabling the coax link:

The new router is in the same room as the desktop. After I completed the setup, the desktop could see the new router and tried to connect to it but failed. Since it has the same SSID as the primary router, the desktop then moved on and connected to the much weaker signal with the same SSID.
Anyone know what I did incorrectly? Likewise, other than running a wired connection (which I may be forced to do), any idea why my network speed is so slow?
TIA,
CheapDad
