Have a bit of an aversion to the sound of digitally (lossy) compressed voice - like on cell phones. Probably prefer the occasional bit of background noise on a copper line, to jitter, dropouts, etc. And I'd still like the option for vintage data modems in my collection to work (not joking).
So how does FiOS telephony do? Is it a lossless compression standard (unlike a typical VOIP analog adapter codec)? Does it depend on the particular ONT?
