Hi all,
As outlined in this FAQ post (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/16077), I am using Option #3. Actiontec MI424WR-GEN3I is the primary router, with LAN connected to LAN of a Netgear WNDR4500. Actiontec is default gateway, DHCP server, and DNS server. WNDR4500 is essentially just an AP.
The problem is I am losing Jumbo Frames or Jumbo Packet support. I transfer some pretty large files for work (I do a lot of audio and video editing, not P2P stuff) across my network and rely on fast gigabit LAN speeds.
I prior to FiOS I had a Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus configured for Jumbo Frames as well as the NIC on my desktop PC. With the current network config, the desktop will not even connect to the NAS unless I disable Jumbo Frames on the desktop PC.
I was trying to prevent double NAT configs, but it seems that might be the best way to have my network act as if the Netgear is the main router. This would put my TV DVRs on their own subnet, but I should be able to configure static routes for my PCs, tablets, etc to be able to see those DVRs, correct?
Thoughts?
