Hello All. Just joined DSL Reports. :)
I anticipate becoming a new FiOS customer for the house I am planning to build in Florida. It will be for "Internet only" (No TV or Phone). I will do my research on this forum, but I have some quick questions for those with experience.
Ideally, I would like to do the following -
1) Have two (2) separate lines run from the main fiber trunk to the premises each installed on it's own GPON ONT (2 ONTs). ONTs provisioned for Ehternet only. Does Verizon give you a choice of ONTs or do they force you to one particular ONT (i.e. if I wanted GPON GigE ONT, would I be able to request them)?
2) Use my own router, a Netgear FVS336G Dual WAN router direct from the ONT Ethernet ports. This to test and implement the "failover and load balancing" capabilities of it.
Does this seem possible or would Verizon balk at this setup? Would they require I use their routers or can I use my own?
3) What is the TOS bandwidth usage limit, after which they send you the dreaded "letter?" :D Even with the above setup, I doubt I'll reach it, but I should know what it is...
Hoping to learn a lot from you all.
Thanks & Regards,
HB
