switch activate to central office self install and bump date

Hello, forum people. :) I am moved into a place in Texas where the previous person had FIOS internet only which remains active. The line is working and the 612 ONT has active ethernet port. New activation ordered online (discounts) but self install was not available as an option on check out so soonest date for tech install was selected. Customer support was able to remove the (not needed) wifi router from the order/bill estimate but was not yet able to override tech visit to self install. I was told that this was because the previous line did not yet have a pending disconnect. So, we scheduled prior's disconnect for the same day as new activation (and confirmed that it could be rescheduled as needed) but support says self install option is still not appearing. Question: How do I get the Verizon system to allow the CO self install? Bonus Round: After above is accomplished, can I bump the activate date to sooner while minimizing outage? (How much of a gap in service is unavoidable?) Any help appreciated.
