I recently got a Frontier branded Actiontec MI424WR-Rev I to use as a MoCA bridge, and for this purpose it's working pretty well. I'm getting seeing speeds of approximately 80Mbps r/w to a NAS drive which is only a hair slower than I get connecting to a 802.11n (300Mbps shown in Wireless Network Connection Status) wifi.
As well as this works, I've noticed that the router is running an older firmware version (40.20.4.2 vs 40.21.18). I'd like to upgrade to the latest Verizon firmware to see if I can get higher throughput as well as to have a spare router, just in case. When I try to upgrade the firmware to the one available from Actiontec (40.21.10.3), I get the following error: The firmware upgrade file is not built for the same vendor
Does anyone know if there is a way to force a firmware upgrade to this router? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
