Verizon removed ONT and Battery Backup Unit - Important Questions

I disconnected/canceled my Verizon FiOS services (TV/Internet/Phone). I live in a one bedroom apartment, and because of where the equipment was located inside my living room, I asked Verizon to pick up the Optical Network Terminal (ONT), Model # I-211-M-K (desktop version) and the Battery Backup Unit (BBU), Model # MI36A12V3, which they did. All equipment that was removed was from the inside/living room, and not outside. The technician that came to pick the equipment up dealt with other Verizon services and not FiOS, so I'm not sure how familiar he was with FiOS in general. He took the equipment from inside (ONT Box, Battery Backup Unit, plugs, etc.), which was just unplugging a couple plugs and wire. It took a couple of minutes. However, the wire/cable that comes through the wall and connects to the back of the ONT box was put "behind the carpet" in my living room, so it's not showing. That is perfectly fine. What I'm concerned about is if that wire/cable is "dangerous", "live" and has any "laser" capabilities. I keep reading about how it's dangerous to look into the "laser" portion of a wire/cable with FiOS, and I have no idea if that's the wire/cable that people are referring to. I have attached a couple pictures of the ONT box that I found online. The wire/cable I am talking about is the "thin" wire/cable with the "green" color towards the end of it, and then attached to a "black" connector of sorts, for lack of a better word. What exactly is the thin wire/cable with the "green" on it, and is that perfectly safe to be disconnected and just stored "behind the carpet"? Is that wire/cable "live", and does it have any dangerous "laser" capabilities at all? Any help would be so helpful and sincerely appreciated. Thank you so much!
