[Networking] Read the FAQ; Trying to Decide on Best Option

Good morning, I have read the through the FAQ and am trying to decide on the best option for an upcoming change. Here are the details: 1. Currently have 150/150, cat5 ONT to G1100 2. No STBs, no Verizon DVR, local channels only (don't need guide, media manager, etc.) 3. Two Verizon wireless extenders in other parts of the house extending wireless coverage and using Ethernet ports for Apple TVs and Rokus. 3a. Side note: I discovered that the G1100 only sees the wireless extenders when I reconnect the coax cable to the G1100. I had found posts here that pointed out that the wireless extenders still work with cat5 connecting the router to the ONT for 150/150 and higher, but I never saw mention of keeping the coax connected to the router. This is not a problem for me; I just wanted to point out this nugget as future reference for others. Probably ridiculously obvious to many of you, but it was a knowledge blind spot for me. :) 4. Ordered a dd-wrt Nighthawk router for VPN. VPN client will be installed on the router, and all phones, tablets, and PCs will communicate with the outside world through the VPN. If possible, the Apple TVs and Rokus can still use the Verizon wireless extenders connected to the G1100. Without the wireless extenders I think that I could have used any of the scenarios that completely replace the G1100 with the new router. However, with the requirement to keep the wireless extenders in service the G1100 gets a reprieve. My initial thoughts are that option #4 applies to me, but would I still be able to use the Verizon wireless extenders with the G1100 acting as a bridge? Suggestions are more than welcome. Thanks! Edit: Oops, option #4 disqualified with cat5 from ONT. -- Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.
