Hi all,
We have Verizon FIOS and the speeds are fine but the WiFi signal strength is very low. The modem/router is in a bedroom and WiFi won't even reach to the kitchen. In as simple terms as possible, I am wondering what are the first steps I should take to try to fix this.
The modem/router is ActionTec and looks like the pic @ the link below, but that's all I can tell you at the moment unfortunately.
From what I understand, the modem has been replaced a while back (probably at least a year or two ago) previously in an attempt to fix the problem, but that didn't work. I understand that FIOS technically doesn't use a modem so I can't buy my own modem and separate router. But it seems that I CAN buy my own router and use it WITH the ActionTec modem/router provided to improve signal strength.
I know I haven't provided much detail, but would you guys say that I should try this to eliminate the problem? I don't want to sink the money into a new router if there isn't at least a decent chance it is the problem.
Thanks very much, and greatly appreciative of any advice you can give me!
