do i still need verizon fios router if i use a cable card

I use a cable card with Tivo but have the quantum fios router when I had the quantum tv set up. I have no intention of using fios set top boxes. do I still need to use the quantum router? i'd like to send that router back and use my own router. i still have phone and internet with fios, however.
