I have the new Gateway router and am giving up my Asus Blackbird that I loved.
The new install is a 50/50 install in my apartment with some new smaller black ONT with green lights (used to the old ONT from my house that was much larger and gray).
I'm wondering if I can switch this guy over to Ethernet and just use my own router. The install script made it seem as if you MUST use either the older ActionTec or this newer router. I have no TV service and won't be getting it.
I used to run the old setup as Ethernet from the ONT. I forget which setup I used from the old FAQ here on that (the 7 wiring setups). Back then I ran the ActionTec behind my router. IF I don't NEED their router I'm going to be a bit miffed as they charged me $200 for this thing (I didn't want to rent it). So if I can dump it, I'll see if they'll refund it.
