I replaced my Quantum Gateway with a Netgear R7000, mainly because I wanted something that I could customize a little more (i.e., run Tomato firmware). The Gateway is completely disconnected and I am running an ethernet cable from the ONT to the R7000. Since I have the Gateway sat around in a box I want to use it as an access point at the other end of the house where the wifi reception is pretty poor (i.e., have wifi running on both the R7000 and Gateway). The plan is to connect the Quantum Gateway to the R7000 via a powerline ethernet connection, then use the Gateway in AP mode at the other end of the house. The problem is that I cannot figure out how to put the Gateway in AP mode. I have disabled the DHCP server on the Gateway but I guess that it is not as simple as that.
