Have had Fios Internet for probably 9 years and never an issue. Over the last couple weeks I have been having a random but not consistent connectivity issues. I would type in a website (like Americanexpress.com) and there would be no browser connection. During this issue some sites were fine and some were not. For example eBay & Amex got no connection but Google & Yahoo did. This is a hard wired ethernet connenction direct to the router, no switches. 75/75 internet.
I then went to a command prompt and "ping americanexpress.com" and got no response. 10 seconds later everything is fine. I thought maybe it is DNS so I switched over to Google's DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4) and thought all was good but the same problem started happening with Google's DNS.
When this is happening not every site is having an issue, just "a lot" of sites. If I call support I am sure at the time I call everything will be fine since it clears up quite quickly.
Nothing has changed here in years. This all started about 2 weeks ago. I am using a Verizon router I own (not rented) so I am sure the first thing they will do is blame the router. It's the REV I (red band) model.
Are there any known issues in the VHO7 (northern NJ)? I would think NOT or I'd certainly see loads of messages about it.
