Making a long story short - a box showed up on my front door that included two STBs, a new router, and a bunch of cables. Free stuff! (Why? Wrong name, right address; I think the person who keyed in the order made a mistake on the service address)
Being the nice guy that I am, I called and told Verizon about it, and supposedly someone will come by tomorrow to get the stuff.
However, since the law says "finders keepers" when it comes to unsolicited deliveries, my plan is to keep the router as a replacement for my MI424WR Rev I. Longer term, I was thinking that my old MI424WR would be a good replacement for a relative's old old old router that only has 10/100.
Good idea? Bad idea? I'm thinking it's a really good idea. Like I stepped in a pile of golden poop.
