So I finally took the plunge and ordered 150/150. Can't wait for the service, but more importantly, I can't wait for GPON because our BPON appears to be oversubscribed!
I waited for a while because of finances and also because until now, they wouldn't let me order 150/150 on residential here in Wylie (North Texas). I didn't want to fight them and/or switch to business service.
Now they do online ordering and over the phone for the GPON tiers in this area, so I called and ordered and they are sending a technician this Friday to set everything up.
My question is about keeping my expectations in check. I've heard people have problem and problem getting BPON upgraded to GPON. I'm wondering what the chances are that the tech they send out will know that they need to upgrade my ONT to a GPON ONT, along with other changes at the CO. I'm not the first out of my CO to order a GPON speed tier, but I could very easily be the third (McBane being the first, another guy I know in Wylie being the second, and perhaps me third).
Maybe it's a silly concern, but given the posts here about upgrades, I don't want to be jumping up and down excited this week that at weeks end I'll have GPON and 150/150, only to have a tech show up unaware that the ONT needs to be swapped out for a GPON ONT (along with the other changes).
Is Verizon on top of their game in this regard or do I have a legitimate fear that Friday night I won't be surfing at 150/150? Thanks!
