[FiOS Phone] Old Phone won't work with new ONT

Just in case this information may be useful to someone else.... I'm a collector of old phones, one of which is a Western Electric 554 (rotary dial wall phone in the kitchen). I've had FiOS DV for several years, and the phone has worked great, both for incoming and outgoing calls. My Tellabs 612 ONT had no problems with the dial pulses generated by the 554. This morning, I was upgraded to 150/150, which, of course, required a new ONT. The technician installed an Alcatel Lucent I-211M-K. Great speed upgrade.... but my WECO 554 can no longer dial out. :( I called tech support. They said dial pulse should be supported and that the problem was with my phone or jack. Not likely, said I, as the phone worked perfectly until the ONT was changed. I posted on the VZ Direct forum, and after they did a bit of research, they said that the old Western Electric rotary phones generate dial pulses more quickly than the new ONT can keep up with. This sounds plausible, as I can dial out successfully if I change my cordless phone to dial pulse, and the pulses are noticeably slower than on the 554. Nevertheless, disappointing. I suppose I could try one of those pulse-to-touchtone converters, but it's probably not worth the effort/hassle. Anyways.... Just wanted to post this in case someone else ever experiences the same issue. Happy Holidays!
