I have a fios ONT that looks identical to this one. It's an Alcatel Lucent but I can't find a model number
[att=1]
My ONT is installed in a closet without power. The OPSU is 20 or so feet away and it appears the cord is well-hidden under baseboards and carpet and through walls. I'm even having trouble finding where the OPSU cord enters the ONT (it's mounted a half-inch or so from flush to the awkward closet wall).
When I open the ONT cover, there is a grounded power outlet in the top left corner. It says 120VAC, 10 Amps Max. However, when I plug anything into it, the plugged-in devices do not get any power.
This closet does not have any other power outlets (obviously, else the OPSU wouldn't be so far away). I really want to move the router and NAS to that closet, but without power, it's pretty much impossible. In my tests when I first moved in, the internet was hitting much better speeds when my router was closer to the ONT rather than at the end of some very very long coax cables.
Is there a way to harness this mystery electrical outlet in the ONT? Is there a switch to make it active?
Thanks in advance
