I've had FiOS for the past 8 years and I've never had any complaints whatsoever. Last year I moved from Fairfax, VA to Ashburn, VA. Now I live in a community where FiOS TV and 50/25 Internet service are included as part of my monthly HOA fees. I also pay an extra $10/month to bump my Internet speeds up to 75/35. Up until about three weeks ago, everything was great, just like it has been since I first got FiOS 8 years ago. Now all of sudden, I'm experiencing slower than normal speeds and some packet loss to a fair number of hosts outside of the VZ network. If I perform a speedtest from a VZ server in Reston, VA (http://speedtest.verizon.com/fios300/), I'll almost always see 85/40. But, of course, that server is on the VZ network and physically located in the same geographic region as me. If I check my speeds from a server outside this area (like NYC or Atlanta), I'll see downstream speeds in the 10 - 20 Mbps range. I've also started noticing packet loss (using PingPlotter) in the 10 - 30% range after the second or third hop when I perform traceroutes. Sometimes these are verizon-gni.net routers, sometimes they're alter.net and sometimes, they're qwest.net depending on the route. It's been so bad the past few nights that I can't even stream a song from the Amazon cloud player. Now I obviously can't call VZ and say, "Hey, I get 75/35+ from your test server but everything else pretty much sucks." Well, technically I guess I could but we all know that won't get me anywhere. Has anybody in the Ashburn area, or Northern VA for that matter, been experiencing issues like this recently? For what it's worth, I have an Actiontec rev. I and I'm using a CAT-5 connection to the router (which is connected to the ONT via coax).
