Since late 2013, the Verizon website shows my area can get speeds up to 300/65 when checking my address as well as others on my block. Prior to this, the max displayed was 75/35.
So I bit the bullet and called Verizon to see if they can give me a deal if I upgrade to 150/65 and a phone line (for business). They offered me a great deal so I placed the order.
The tech visits yesterday, and said his work order is only for voice. I told him that it's supposed to be a upgrade to 150/65 (GPON, I'm on BPON now) and voice. He made a phone call and the business help desk told him no, that I cannot get the 150/65, that it is not available to this area, but they show I am having 75/35 installed. (Huh? I am already on that) I told him how I phoned in the order and the business office said that my address qualifies and should be able to get it.
The tech was awesome, he called engineering. After waiting for quite some time, he got someone on the phone. They researched my address and said that yes, it is available there and that the hub has the GPON card in it. So he contacted the business help desk again with this information, but they said no, our system says 75 is max. He said that in order to continue he would have to make many calls (assuming getting engineering more involved) and that they would most likely have to cancel my services and re-create the order which can be risky. So I opted not to, and he put in a request with the business help desk to research this issue and call me back within 48 hours.
Has anyone had trouble upgrading to GPON once the Verizon website shows you can get it and the business/sales office says that yes, you can upgrade? This was very weird to me how they sell you the upgrade, then when they come out it's only for part of the order and their information shows a 75/35 order instead.
