Lately, ever since this Net Neutrality thing happened... verizon has seemed intent on making my internet experience as awful as it could possibly get. I was not even able to watch youtube anymore. Videos would spin and spin for however long I had the patience to wait, and no amount of refreshing or different videos would change anything.
So I got a VPN, because I heard that a VPN can fix all this. ISPs like verizon have seemed to enjoy taking the route of cramming as much traffic as they can to services like youtube through as congested a route as possible. The VPN bypasses that by taking a longer but less congested route.
And it's been amazing! But now, since I've had successes with it... I seem to be receiving these insane interruptions to my internet service as a whole. Every machine on the network, where for 30 minutes or an hour it seems like I am getting no connectivity of any importance. I even disconnect my VPN, and computers on the network not using VPN are still not getting through.
Not even simple web pages are loading. I can tell I have internet access because they begin to load... but then just hang forever. Every computer in the house.
Is verizon punishing me now for using a VPN, because I am trying to be able to use youtube on a service I am paying good money for?
The winds of change are coming, and I don't think verizon is prepared.
