This is my experience dealing with FIOS sales people and their intentional or unintentional misinformation is borderline illegal.
In March 2012, I ordered a FIOS package 35/35 with Prime TV for $90. I asked and confirmed multiple times with the sales person that the price was for two year contract. I get my letter it it said I had ordered 25/15 with Prime. I had to call them up and they said that they will fix it. I wrote it all down in a text file.
I used the service for roughly a year before my bill again and it increased from the $90 to $110. I decided that it wasn't worth several an few hours worth of phone calls to argue over $20 a month for a year. I make a lot so the money isn't a big deal. However in business, principal is important.
Last night, I ordered FIOS internet for an MDU (apartment) that I spent my weekdays in and knowing my experience from last time, I asked the sales person how much it will be. He said $54.99 for two years. He goes through a credit check and take my credit card number and everything is fine and dandy and I was told that I will have service Tuesday and would receive an email shortly.
I waited til today and checked online and it says my order doesn't exist so I decided to call in. I was told by the sales associate that no such order exist!
The confirmation number is NJ11121940675 and the sales person was Carlos. Verizon really needs to fix their system.
I went through the order again and confirmed with the associate that it was a $54.99 two year contract. He sends me a preview of the order and I noticed that they tried to pull the trick with the one year discount again! I asked about it and he said, "Oh it would be an average of $65 over the contract period". This clearly contradicting his earlier statements of it being $54.99.
I know that one off sales errors occur but the sales people at Verizon seem to be commiting consumer fraud and violating section 56:82 of the consumer fraud act of nj by repeatedly doing so as a tactic. I have filed a complaint with the NJ consumer affairs division and I hope others that face the same issue will do so too. Verizon is setting itself up for a class action lawsuit in the future.
